Cheers. I'm a casual viewer of Balkan affairs from afar so always curious to see if locals ever feel the need to chop and change what SI has done in the area (basically tiptoeing around the politics). You're right, Kosovo's league system doesn't have teams in these places anyway, just odd that North Mitrovica is considered Serbian in the game, I guess Russia and Serbia would be happy about that. IRL it's recognized as Kosovo by UK, US etc but effectively controlled by the local Serb populace, presumably propped up from Belgrade. Same with some of the Serbian villages in the east of the country. Anyway I've thought about fiddling with that before so newgens like Milos Krasic (ex-Juve, Serbia) born in North Mitrovica would have Kosovo second nationality but likely not worth the effort
-
Well duh, yeah I was just curious about some of the additional details - there's a region in the game that's Kosovo IRL but still Serbia in the game. Was interested to see if you did any work on the background world to add more detail to the DB. Granted this is the type of stuff only I seem interested in

Superleague above champions league.
themodelcitizen replied to Fire0Fart's topic in Editors Hideaway
Yeah, my AFL file has the new 8-team tourney and then expands to 24 next year. It can run alongside domestic league files but the fixture congestion will be bonkers. Your two trophy setup would rely on "other competition to use" for the league or cup stage? I was never really sure how to use rankings that way and would be reluctant to try and copy MLS because of all the weird moving parts. With all the format changes over the years it feels pretty patched together now and maybe not the best base anyway. You could always do the league as a separate stage with "don't rank teams using this stage" and "add history" so they get the history record but it's not the cleanest method to award competition wins -

Good questions. I know lots of people handle teams coming into leagues after a year or two (typically MLS and CanPL) by using "ignore teams" for the first season or two but I've never been truly comfortable with it for a lot of the same reasons. Using team pools you could restrict it to, like, max 3 Spanish teams per year, after already setting an instruction to ignore anyone who finished 17th or lower last season. Either way it needs lots of work and loads of testing, maybe something for FM24 after the last patch. I recall your African stuff mainly because of the valuable testing it provided with using B teams in top leagues -

Could you use "ignore teams" to tell Spain to leave out teams in this thing, with a variable number of entrants? Then each season have the Superleague draw first, with only the top 17 or so (out of 20) having qualified for the next year. So it still thinks Barca are a la Liga team and they make signings, but they don't play any fixtures and don't get a ranking that year. Obviously pro/rel would still be a disaster -

It's possible, depending on how you'd want La Liga to handle promotions, especially in years where Barca (or whoever) didn't finish anywhere near the bottom. Just lots and lots of work in the editor -
@nielsoncp @Digijustin @pepepelanda I posted in the bug thread but I believe it's because most created DBs have a blank field for "continental cup rules", whereas the default US rules has entries there. Just copy and paste the "continental cup rules" under "other league stage rules" from the default MLS into your custom league and alter accordingly depending on how you want it to qualify teams to the CCL. Without the US actually qualifying any teams that way, the CCL doesn't have enough entries so it doesn't draw. I believe @Zachary Whyte's advice about MLS needing at least 24 teams would only affect the Leagues Cup drawing properly

Still trying to get the Leagues Cup fixed, i.e. all MLS vs. MX games are always hosted by the MLS team, and the occasional inter-MX games in the knockouts will be in US-based stadia. Just can't get the groups to use the hidden stages the way I want so far. Given it's played as a one-off in the summer, it's not incompatible with Libertadores knockout round participation, just delays the second round by a week or two (it has time to catch up) Should we rename the Sudamericana/Recopa Sudamericana in that file? Copa Panamericana since CONCACAF teams can come into the second round now? Canadian teams playing in the "Liberators Cup" already feels so wrong

It's crazy how much fixture pile-up is down to the default entry (including in most default Champions Leagues) for "days to check for clashes" under "fixture times and rules/General" being set to 3 days instead of 2. So if you're editing a domestic league somewhere and there are potential Champions League games on Tuesday and Wednesday which you're not touching, you basically have to use Saturday every weekend or the game will throw up a clash. In the absence of a mechanism to automatically shift games by one day for teams involved in continental comps, a bunch of league dates will get postponed if, for example, you have them on Sunday and they get a CL game on Tuesday

[FM23.4] Club World Cup redux
themodelcitizen replied to themodelcitizen's topic in Editors Hideaway Download Forum FM23
I know the European champions are slated to come straight in at the final at the new tournament from December 2024, which I have reflected in the CWC file. But I also love the idea of doing the host + OFC in one playoff (pretty standard), then an Asian-African playoff which also hands out the Afro-Asian club championship trophy (which has a unique ID and history in the game already), and then a North vs. South America playoff which also awards the Copa Interamericana. Then the playoff winners would join the UEFA champ in the semis. This should be doable with "other competition to use" and/or "add history" -
Fixing a glitch where if a CONCACAF team won the Libertadores, and then also qualified for the next one via the CONCACAF first round, the tournament wouldn't draw the following season EDIT: Should we do something about the Leagues Cup? So many games and it feels unnecessary for teams in the Libertadores who are already playing Latin American opposition. Maybe I'll try and restrict it to teams not active in the Libertadores groups, been meaning to fix the hosting issue anyway
-
Participation starts in 2024. And yes, it's apparent that running two files that edit the same competition is a bad idea, lol, but I think your issue was down to a missed number somewhere - fixing that now, the first season accidentally had two teams advancing from the prelims instead of 1, so it looks like they were taking a spot. Thanks for the (effective) bug report sorry about that

As an update. Qualifying finally seems to be working fine year-on-year, it's just a couple of issues with transferring results. CONCACAF and Libertadores have a calendar-year setup so it gets a bit confused, trying to work with that now. Meanwhile UEFA's league phase doesn't seem to draw after the first year, it wouldn't be the end of the world if that keeps happening but if so I'll just transfer the Euro prize pool the main competition (drastic effects on world football incoming...)

"More Than the Max Number of Games" Error?
themodelcitizen replied to splt143's topic in Editors Hideaway
Makes sense. I've seen the same error arise using hidden stages, i.e. when a league or group stage has a weird format (not just everyone playing everyone else once or twice), and I give it the same instruction twice. Like, the main stage (that you see in the game) has "matches from other stage" checked to get the games, which is enough, but if you also use "take stage results into other stage" under the competition's "other stage rules" then it will try and send the same results twice (I think the latter option is only needed when you're sending the results to another competition) -
"More Than the Max Number of Games" Error?
themodelcitizen replied to splt143's topic in Editors Hideaway
So I guess it was trying to play each round of fixtures twice, leading to the error? Reserves are one of those things the game is surprisingly capable of handling on its own like that, unless you need certain quirks like odd scheduling or formats -
I wasn't planning on buying the game but apparently my gf is going away for a month on Nov. 6 or so. Lol, watch this space

The Realism Thread

That had to be one of the Sciclunas!! I've never met them but definitely big figures in the Detroit youth soccer scene around that time, one of the brothers had dreadlocks and a heavy surfer vibe, lol. Seemed like a good dude -

Should have mentioned, this may be relevant to your interests @alian62 @Cory74 @dirtboy @The Good Rebel @Goughy7 @SA. And for the CONCACAF teams in Libertadores, it's been posted about before by @LeoFreire98 @Bullnak @zangelmi @s_t_g so you may be interested. For Russia in AFC, check it out @NiekMulderij @MGC88
