  1. The "Hogges trick" is a lot of fun. But also slightly unwieldy. Someone on Steam said they had issues with homegrown when they moved to Barca and tried to bring some players over from Olot. I can't think what the issue would be though, will have to refresh myself. Plus it's not game breaking, you'll probably have enough local newgens anyway
  2. Did you change the continent to Europe? There's something you need to do with Resource Archiver to do so. There are threads on here about it
  3. This is driving me mad, massive kudos to anyone who can figure out what's going on. Even tried setting the players' future transfer to the reserve team instead but they still arrive with their wage maxed out despite me setting a higher number (that works for other players going to other clubs). Having tried a few different options, "max wage" and "remaining wage allowed" don't seem that important or limiting, the game seems to rejig that based on finances (same way you can move your budgets around once managing a club in-game)
  4. Load all players from Cornwall when you start the game (with the option at the top right when you're selecting leagues). Even then you might need more than 30-40 for it to have a player pool big enough to select from
  5. Thanks for helping out. Rich benefactor is the same as clubs around them. I tried changing "ownership" from something like "members/no elections" to "members/elections", same as their rivals, but no dice. Will check with club objectives. Didn't see anything in supporter objectives, or the chairman's objectives, that would seem to affect it. I'll experiment with leaving max wage blank as well, although I expect that will lower the wage even more (unrealistic wages is what this summer is all about in Saudi )
  6. Can't find it anywhere in the editor, might be a setting with the Board in-game, but setting up future transfers to Saudi Arabia and I notice that once they arrive in a save in July 2023, Al-Ittihad's new boys are showing at a max of something like 275K a week (GBP). Other clubs don't have the same problem and get the same wage I set in the editor. I can see "maximum wage" under "finances" for each club but that doesn't seem to actually affect it. Similarly I don't see anything in the nation rules under "transfers", "contract rules" etc (and it's only happening for one club anyway). Is there something in the Chairman's setting?
  7. It's like the Champions League, I've got it running on matchdays not used by the African CL or Confederation Cup. October to May now, so fixture pile-up won't be as bad, but if you're running an African league file it will still likely cause some backlogs with domestic fixtures
  8. You could put the dates on European dates, the EPL must be set up to schedule around those, and you're excluding teams in Europe already. And yes, the offset dates do work the way you think
  9. Looks good, have you got permission to repost Dave's file? Not to be discouraging, just that you'll have to start a new file from scratch if not
  10. Brilliant!! Good luck with the network game, MLS can be great fun on there, we had a forum game going on 2013 and again in CanPL in 2019 for a bit. Good times
  11. Yeah, even removing all the changes you made to MLS (by going into "changes" on the bottom left and removing them or clearing the list), and copying and pasting a fresh set of MLS rules onto your file, still results in the "require minimum of 28 teams for MLS, found only 27" error. So you've done something somewhere to one of the clubs' divisions, next divisions, etc, or something, somewhere. No way I can find it in the 40000+ changes you've got there, good luck figuring it out. If not you can consider starting a new US rules file with everything you've learned
  12. No clue, I don't really know how they've set up MLS this year. Just tried to remove the nation rules and re-add them but it's giving some error message about all the NCAA teams having "next division" and "other division" set to the same thing. Was thinking just get rid of the USA advanced rules and re-add them to have everything back to default but you can keep your 40000+ db changes. But if you've edited the lower divisions too then just copy and paste the MLS rules from the default USA advanced rules back into your DB
  13. I think "registered teams" is in two different places, not sure if both are actually filled out for MLS. Anyway the point is just change back whatever you changed, compare it to an unchanged DB if you need to review each setting
  14. Registered teams in both the competition itself (from clicking on it and looking at the details, and on the left is "registered teams") and in the advanced rules as well? You can always compare to the default DB and see what the teams list, group settings etc look like and make sure it's all changed back. If everything looks the exact same and it's still not working then something got messed up. You could try copying and pasting the MLS competition rules from the default DB into your changed DB. But you might have to start fresh
  15. What about all the other stuff you changed like registered teams? If you changed everything back and still hit a wall, any chance you can just go back to the vanilla database and start your changes again? I haven't really messed with MLS this year but it's not very malleable in the editor... Like, at all
  16. That sounds brilliant, I was thinking of something similar for Ireland. The FM22 project I did was based on the proposals for the All-Island league, but those proposals have been watered down a bit: Was thinking of ways to get it working. Maybe a secondary division in the Republic that calls the "best teams in competition" from each at the split point, and would have its own standings, but would also send its results to the league tables for each country (using "extra league games") in two separate nation rules files. Also like the idea of a Dutch/Belgian league
  17. Well they have the basic editor to create leagues and cups as well, advanced isn't required. I'd love to see more options for scheduling, same way you can have alternate versions of "fixture dates" for teams involved in the Club World Championship - you should be able to have teams who play in continental tournaments have their matchday bumped (like, playing on Monday in the league if they played Thursday Europa League games the previous week)
  18. Yeah there are some weird glitches I need to work through, noticed last night while testing. Might revert to the last version of the file for a bit until I work it out EDIT: had to fix a couple things, looking good now. Thanks for the testing, let me know if anything looks off
  19. All good, I had thought I'd toss it out there for the brain trust to see if anyone else had dealt with it, but I'm sorted now. I think the older versions of the editor that I used hidden stages on didn't have that extra "matches from other stage" option, but as usual, telling the game to do the same thing in two different places can cause issues... in this case I think it was sending the results from the hidden stages into the main stage twice, due to also having that option ticked under "extra league games" in "league stage settings" for the main stage itself. Redundancy = bad
  20. Check it out @Shrew82, I think I got the new CONCACAF Nations League format down. This took ages and there's a LOT of moving parts as you know from looking at the Nations League rules in the editor. Just getting the pro/rel working was one thing, then trying to approximate League A's bizarre schedule starting in 2023 as best I could was another. The top 4 teams (by ranking) go straight to the quarterfinals. This opens up a few more big-money friendly dates for the likes of US and Mexico like IRL. The group stage teams play-in using a weird Swiss system against mostly similar opposition. In the unlikely event one of the top 4 teams by world ranking was relegated to League B the cycle before, I think an extra team might be bumped down on reputation instead (with cascading effect down the tiers), haven't seen that in testing. Copa América link in the OP will be updated in a few hours
  21. You could put the city Alghero into the Catalunya local region, or a new local region in the Catalan nation (you'd have to open one up by rejigging them elsewhere) like "Catalan Alghero" or something with the language set to Italian. Not sure if that would have weird knock-on effects in Italy
  22. And here's Al-Ittihad's new kits, you can pop them in your existing kits folder like the Al-Hilal ones above: DOWNLOAD I was able to get permission from the creator at the link above to re-size them and post them here. Tempted to work on a version of the DB where it's 18 teams straight away with all the new signings and roster rules, anyone have any thoughts? I guess you can just get one of the transfer update files on this forum if you want all the new signings in 2022
  23. Isn't there some weird stage flag like "don't set up competition yet" under the setup date. Wonder if you could do the earlier setup date (June 20 or July 1 or whatever the default game uses) with that box, and then maybe it won't actually call the teams until later i.e. the draw date of the first round? Have never tried it so not sure if it works
  24. Also it doesn't fully realize your goal of the non-Celtic League teams being "away" in every group game, but you could take every possible contestant (or at least the top couple of divisions of English teams) and give them an "alternate stadium" somewhere in Celtica/Ireland for the Celtic Isles competition. So if Man Utd was deemed the home team they'd play their "home" group games in that comp in Croke Park or wherever
