  1. Yeah we're just discussing that in the Qatar thread. They were set to drop to 10 teams, but in March they announced this would be "postponed" so I'll make it so 2023/24 keeps 12 teams for one extra season. Just need to make sure the scheduling, cups etc all work
  2. On the plus side, maybe @X0X0 wouldn't have been relegated with Al-Rayyan if there was only 1 team going straight down instead of 2
  3. Yeah but I think in the default editor they had Umm-Salal and Al-Shamal and moving to stadiums that were planned but never actually completed IRL, right? Or maybe they fixed that in a patch? Originally I scrapped all that and kept them in their existing stadiums, like IRL. I think I lowered their attendance even further from 700 and 1500. But now I'm wondering if there's some weird hard-coding with the originally planned stadium moves. Haha, I'm wavering on whether to change it back to 10 teams, maybe just for one season (so the move to 10 would occur next year in 2024, after all they did say "postponed"). As usual realism is the goal but a lot of dates and stuff for next season had to be guesstimated anyway
  4. Ah ffs, I can see they've postponed the decision to drop to 10 teams: https://www.easternherald.com/2023/03/07/qatar-the-football-association-postpones-the-decision-to-reduce-the-number-of-clubs/ Well, that was a lot of work for nothing... lol, I wonder if they'll drop to 10 teams next season after all. This will take a couple of hours in the evenings to get the scheduling right without leaving huge fixture gaps and to deal with the knock-on effects in cups and the second tier. Give me a bit of time and I can try to have a new version up by next week. The stadium thing is weird, w/ the first two clubs I actually removed their "stadium move" and gave them accurate stadium numbers months ago. Do they still move in the game? There might be something hard-coded for that. Do they actually get 25,000 in attendance or does it just say that in Genie Scout? As for Al-Khor, I do have them set to move (as in IRL), but they definitely shouldn't be getting 35K! I've just changed "expected maximum attendance" but I'm not sure it will actually do anything. Even with setting attendances extremely low (as I've had in the file for a while), they do steadily increase, but obviously shouldn't be anywhere near that level in a year or two. I'll try to think of other ideas to fix that when I'm working on the league structure.
  5. Shouldn't be any conflicts then. He'll just be there from game start. @WatsonFM I realized that doing the promoted/relegated teams a year early won't work, as they're increasing the number of teams in the league next season, for now I'd rather keep it realistic anyway. Upping the number of teams one year early to give you the right team list for 2023/24 one year early would cause issues elsewhere, including with fixture pile-up. You could "swap" the bottom two for the top two from the second division but obviously you're missing the other two promoted teams this summer in that case. I've also gone through and changed some of the domestic transfer and wage values for the three Gulf countries in the player rep file, this should help with getting domestic players signed more frequently. Let me know if you notice any differences in transfer activity like ajoobah and I were discussing above.
  6. Same links in the 3rd post have been updated with each patch
  7. Check those links in my last post, they seem to suggest there's VAR. And yes, I acknowledged I had it incorrectly as "3 from 9" subs (the wording in the English version of the editor), but I've adjusted it to "5 from 9 (max of 3 stoppages)" which seems accurate - as in, you can name 9 subs, and use 5, but only during 3 substitution periods. Is that right? Or can you make all 5 subs at 5 different times? Thanks for the feedback. For the cups, it looks like the League Cup allows 7 foreigners (along with 3 stoppages for the 5 substitutions, and away goals). I'll dig around a bit for the Super Cup and President's Cup and see if there are any differences and fix those too. Much appreciated!!
  8. Easier to run I guess? Not like you need the full spectrum of RGB for a point-and-click text game
  9. Can't imagine there would be any issues. If they've also set it as a future transfer, the only difference might be the guesstimated wage, and then the last file alphabetically (or maybe first, can't remember) would take precedence. If one of the two files set it as an existing transfer instead of future transfer, then the future transfer (to the same club) just wouldn't apply
  10. While we wait on some transfer deals to go through, here's an alternate version where the rumoured Chelsea transfers - N'Golo Kante, Ziyech, Koulibaly and Edouard Mendy - are all set to join their proposed Saudi clubs after the first season: (edit: link removed, main download is up to date)
  11. Have you set up the league structure itself? If the league isn't set up and working with 3 teams (or however many are in there) it might not show any more
  12. Re: @ajoobah's comments on the UAE DB in the Saudi thread: Not sure why I had 3 from 9 subs instead of 5 from 9. Is it 3 stoppages? Hard to tell from some of the match reports online. You're right about away goals in the President Cup semis, if you look at the two-legged semi between Ajman and Sharjah this year, they're not in use anymore. Fixing that now too. In the League Cup, away goals were active as of last season in the Al Ain-Al Jazira semi, let me know if you see they've changed it. And you shouldn't have pointed out the VAR thing! Haha, my commitment to realism means I have to include it now! On a serious note, this is EXACTLY the type of feedback that DB creators need to keep things accurate and up-to-date, please keep coming at me with critiques and suggestions, people!
  13. Future transfers it is for now, I've added Benzema and will try to stay on top of other big names (Ruben Neves, Kante etc when they get confirmed). I may not get into the nitty-gritty of setting guys like Ighalo to "leave club at end of contract" so you'll have to manage the squad yourself heh, thanks for the info on UAE, I'll reply more fulsomely in that thread
  14. Guessing the game's UI and/or your graphics card can only display a finite amount of colours compared to the full range of RGB. Mind you I know very little about that stuff but if it's such a negligible difference that might explain it
  15. Posted a new version with the 2023 squad rules kicking in next season, or at least the best facsimile I can make of them. Stuff like the age-limited resident player thing, under-23 foreign goalkeepers only, and over-28 age limits aren't reproducible in the editor unless there's some wizardry I'm not thinking of so I've approximated the new rules as best I can. The slot reserved only for a UAFA player (and AFC) is done but at least we get a season out of all that work
  16. Mine's working fine on 23.4 with the new version (including Qatar Cup): Will need more information (what other files are you running etc) but not sure the problem's on my end, unless anyone else has seen this? EDIT: scratch that, seems to be an issue if certain teams end up in certain cups. I think I've dealt with it. Do let me know if anything crops up again
  17. What do you guys like for the new transfers like Benzema and if these Chelsea outgoing player deals go through? i.e., should we have Benzema at Al-Ittihad as a future transfer, or there from the game start? I'll be too lazy to maintain two separate versions so will just go with what people prefer
  18. It worked when I was testing last week (I think) but need to triple check. I had all my middle east files running together but the other ones shouldn't affect Qatar's scheduling
  19. Now that it's summer here I don't think I have the energy to fix CONCACAF, it's my home but SI really screwed us with all the issues (that we kept raising in the bugs forum and they ignored us). Promoted/relegated teams are a good idea, along with transfers like Benzema. I'll work on that next week
  20. Really? Weird, wonder if it's not set to "eligible for nation" and has one of the other options. I'll check when I get back home next week
  21. Ahh what time of year are you starting? I'll take a look but it will be next week as I'm away from my laptop. Sorry for the issue Edit: I wonder if the Qatar Cup finishes too late or something. Will play around with it. If anyone has the last version from mediafire (i.e. haven't re-downloaded since this last fix I made, so no Qatar Cup) feel free to upload it somewhere and post it here until I can fix things
  22. It's difficult to perfectly simulate the "sign stars but also a bunch of local bums" strategy, they've had trouble making MLS realistically sign DPs as well (for example it's hard to program the combination of factors like lifestyle and Latin culture in Miami that allowed Messi to join while the league's "average" transfer target is much, much lower in stature). Similarly, Muslim players seem more at home joining clubs in Turkey and the Gulf but there's no value in the editor for that. Those are good ideas so far though, what are the other ownership types again? You could also go in "sponsors" and give them all like a recurring 100m payment every year as a "government grant". Maybe go to some existing stars and give them the "career goal" of playing in the SPL. Not entirely realistic, but would simulate the special appeal ($$$) of the region
  23. This has been updated for each patch, obviously, but the OP now includes the extra file that adjusts player reputation for a range of Emirati (and Saudi, and Qatari) players for better gameplay. More discussion about the issue is in the Saudi Pro League thread.
  24. OK, here's a fix (backup) that should be loaded as a separate file. It adjusts the reputation of domestic players from the three Gulf leagues so that the big teams will hopefully sign and keep them more. @ajoobah first noted this issue. The standard for players from playable countries seems to be that their reputation matches their CA, and their home reputation is even higher. For many non-playable countries, though, home player rep isn't higher, perhaps because it's not needed for domestic transfers. Now we do need that, so I've made some minor adjustments (mostly slight bumps to "home reputation") to a range of top players from Saudi, Qatar, and UAE.
  25. One in the downloads forum (mine) expands to 18 teams after one season as planned
