[FM23.4] Saudi Pro League
themodelcitizen replied to themodelcitizen's topic in Editors Hideaway Download Forum FM23
OK, I've maxed it out for "personal objectives" for all the Pro League chairmen, and "supporter objectives" for each Pro League club. Let me know if you see any difference. Make sure the extended squad rules are showing up btw, sometimes the Steam Workshop link doesn't update as quickly in which case you'll need the backup link from Mediafire. EDIT: when you said it was pretty much the same, was that before or after the match rules were adjusted? Just trying to trial+error to find a solution, the chairmen preferences might be overkill -

Wow yeah that's brutal. I'm not sure I like the idea of upping everyone's CA 5-10 because of the knock-on effects elsewhere. Same with upping Saudi's youth rating. Let me try with the chairmen preferences, even if that's only temporary. Are you loading everyone of Saudi nationality at game start? I guess the game-wide issue where teams don't develop young players also means that mid-tier teams aren't playing young players enough for them to develop and be good enough for top teams to sign... -
Updated all leagues so that AI managers should follow squad registration rules more closely. Previously, in cases where there was a squad rule limiting teams to, say, 5 foreigners, this wasn't also reflected in a redundant "match squad" rule for 5 foreigners. However, I'm realizing the AI squad-building seems to look to that first, so your squad registration might look a little less clean and contain some redundant entries now. It should be worth it. As usual, always load all players "based in nation" and from the nationality of the nation you're playing in, really this is vital for any created leagues.

[FM23.4] Saudi Pro League

Just added it to match rules and updated the links. Is the problem as severe in Qatar and UAE? They already have the rule in "match rules" so I wonder how influential that is. I'm adding a couple of those redundant foreigner rules to my San Marino league as well just in case. I think I need to look at them as more of a squad-building guide to the AI managers rather than a set of rules designed to be as streamlined as possible -

I think I saw someone say you need the "match squad rules" to also have the foreigner rule, or the AI clubs won't prioritize it. Even if its effectively redundant (i.e. they're already limited to 8 guys in the overall roster, so why specify 8 in the match squad). I'm changing that now. I might consider changing the chairmen to favour domestic players but I still want them to try and make big foreign signings. The sponsorships I've barely touched other than taking out the 50 million state subsidy and putting it in the league rules instead (shouldn't cause this issue). But I'll take a look and set some of the default stuff to "renew income" so they can top up their sponsorships. Thanks so much for the feedback! Edit: Done, I don't have time to run a sim right now to check after a few seasons, but will do so later. Also, always make sure to load all players of Saudi nationality and based in Saudi at game start, and if you're using UAE and Qatar load them too (plus top players from UAFA countries for Qatar) -
Unlikely to do with fixtures, probably something with squad registration dates. It's possible the new update screwed everything up and made it hard to edit. Doubt it's related to matchdays, it's just pulling the same team because every time it goes to run the sim it starts with the same team and hits the same error (would be the same with any team)

Egyptian league is capping attendance at 6000 this year due to crowd trouble. Up from 3K last year so it might be a gradual increase over the years. I know we can set a minimum attendance, is there a way to cap it with a maximum attendance for a specific competition? I know we can set "used" capacity, but that doesn't seem ideal. Also occurred to me to give every stadium a capacity of 6K with it set to increase to full capacity next summer, or set 6K seats and make it "all-seater only" for the first season. Those aren't very elegant solutions though, anyone been able to implement something similar?

New update and the editor
themodelcitizen replied to themodelcitizen's topic in Advanced Rules Editing
Makes sense. So checked for if they're in the EU? Like so many of their written explanations in the editor, the text doesn't make much sense ("...only apply if the nation is inside or outside the EU?") I suppose as long the EU switch is happening in an offseason (like July 1), you could just have separate squad rules ending the season prior and starting the following season -

Under "general" I think the box for "dates" should be unchecked (because you're specifying them elsewhere). Also there's a dropdown for clashes, I would pick "none" if you want full control of your dates (instead of "domestic only" etc). Or if you like, post your file and someone can probably spot what's happening -

Try switching to basic rules if it won't load like that. The file wouldn't verify in advanced rules, sounds like SI breaking more stuff in the editor with their last update (thanks guys) -

Use "fixture dates" and set specific dates under the tournament itself (not the league stage), then in the league stage go to league schedule and use those dates (select them from the drop-down options). Like, you can have all 38 matchdays spelled out in a 20-team league, then it will use alternate dates if there are clashes. And just tell it to play on specific Saturdays or whenever their matchday is -

Had a go but I can't verify the Serbian advanced rules for some reason, looks like some weird glitch where a team can't register their squad. In the default game they're set to join the EU in 2030, I changed it to July 2026 along with the foreign player rule but it won't verify. Here's what I had so far, I wonder if switching back to basic rules would fix it. -

I've also noticed under "squad selection" for "non-EU players" you can check a box for "Nation in EU". It says "Does this squad selection rule only apply if the nation is inside or outside the EU?" By default, most look like they're checked. I wonder if that would spare us from the workaround I had to use for San Marino and Qatar to fix the default issue where trying to add "non-EU" rules glitched the game and forced the home country to ALSO be considered as non-EU -
Do the Dutch rules know to "adjust" the playoffs to have 4th-7th instead of 5th-8th in that scenario? Is that the purpose of the hidden stage? If not, then as Euro coefficients rise and fall the playoffs might be messed up (if, say, there are 2 or 3 Euro spots to hand out instead of 0 or 1). If that's OK, you can get away with just having the playoffs as a separate cup stage, and under the league stage, in "general" use the "Stage Flag" "Use Playoff Rankings". Under "League Settings" use the "Other League Stage Flag" "Don't set league positions for ranking levels". If you use "Ranking Levels" then set it so 5th to 8th all have highest ranking 4, lowest ranking 6. Use "Qualification Rules" or whatever you would normally to send 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th to the playoff stage. Hand out rankings here using "ranking levels" so that the playoff winner gets ranking 4, playoff final loser gets ranking 5, semifinal losers get ranking 6. Unless you want a playoff "third place game" to account for future coefficient changes, in which case you would rank accordingly. Make sense? Somehow got this to have a semblance of working for my San Marino DB and its European playoff

Golc Cup Qualification doenst work
themodelcitizen commented on Cheez3y's issue in [North America] (Official) League Specific Issues
Is it not just the "setup date" for the Gold Cup that needs moving up? Sacrifice not having the actual draw date in exchange for the right teams. The default tournaments are hard to edit for us, you feel that the least the devs could have done is respond to the various threads that popped up after every update raising this. Nice slap in the face for CONCACAF-based customers and others who like to play saves in the region, if this happened with the Euro it would be seen as a disaster. -
I've suspected this about myself for years, but would still get immense enjoyment out of a long-term save using my edited DB - so there was always a goal in mind. Now, though, I can't get settled with the FM23 interface, and stuff like the Gold Cup qualifying bug means in-game immersion is essentially broken. So, I've accepted completely that editing is the fun part

Anybody gone through and won the lot with Al-Hilal or Al-Nassr? I Just updated the Arab Champions Cup (Lusail Super Cup link in the OP) to feature the new 2023 edition like IRL, one more trophy to win in the first season (septuple anyone?) -
[FM23.4] Arab/African Club Cups
themodelcitizen replied to themodelcitizen's topic in Editors Hideaway Download Forum FM23
Download link is updated; the King Salman Cup is now played in 2023 as in real life. It's like a preseason cup for the big teams, but it's not clear how it will affect players going on holiday (I guess in August). If anyone gets through a season and sees it in action let me know. I might have to uncheck "can be played during club holiday". With no confirmation that this will be a regular thing (they may be just riding World Cup and Ronaldo fever this year), it returns to my own knockout format in 2023/24. I may change that to reflect the same format/team distribution but it will likely remain a "secondary" tournament played on ACL match days to avoid conflicts. That's from 2023/24 only – this season's IRL version with Raja, Al-Nassr etc is featured.
