  1. Interesting, I'm gonna think about that. I can't imagine why there's any inherent advantage to using the in-built stages 0 and 1, and the background team selection has to be similar to how you've done it (but yours works better for seedings). If I were you I might just change it so the top ranked qualified teams (seeding 1) are maxed at 11 teams and not 12, because the host technically takes one of those slots. Then under "group settings" move the instruction for "max. number of seeds per group" for seeding 1 to the bottom of the list - if it's at the top, the game might put one of them in the same group as seed 0 (the host), which we don't want. But if the game goes first in assigning the max. number of seeds from seeding 2, 3 and 4 first, by the time it gets to seeding 1 it will have no choice but to put them in the remaining groups (that 0 isn't in). Make sense? Lol, I also noticed in testing that Morocco can (very rarely) host, nice addition to the usual pool of Australia, Korea, Japan, China and S. Africa from the Asian/African choices
  2. Yeah, that flag seems to be broken this year. Trying to come up with workarounds using "seeding for round" but it's not easy
  3. Done now, just running a test. Looks like my old version except straight to knock-outs, and no one-off final (which I had used after all the talk of "Africa's Super Bowl"). Then from 2024 mine still goes to 24 teams like before. EDIT: And here's the new logo for your graphics folder...
  4. Do go on? Or post it to take a look at? Can you still leave "teams" blank or have you filled that out too? I'm always hesitant to make changes like that in case there's stuff going on in the background tied to stage numbers, but it sounds like it's worth it... at the moment i"m just praying each country gets into one of "their" groups
  5. Updating some of the international files including Copa América, which has the IRL format in 2024 and goes back to 12 teams from 2028 now. The "guest" spots are then taken by the Nations League winner, and one of the old traditional invitees like Japan - although if an Asian or African team is hosting the World Cup 2 years later, they'll take that spot (a la Qatar 2019/2021). Same goes if the European WC host somehow doesn't make the Euros and needs competitive matches. Russia get games as an occasional invitee in the CAFA Nations Cup and SAFF youth tournament here, which occasionally include a realistic invited team to spice things up.
  6. The default ACL format will always come down to 1 game anyway, east vs. west, so even if the Saudi league is pre-eminent you'll never get, like, an all-Saudi final. Obviously they can still dominate the winners' list, but the representative from the east (usually a team from China, S. Korea or Japan) will always have a fighter's chance in that one-off game
  7. Yeah, everything (and all three "nation" fields) have been changed to the new nation state (formerly Belarus). Feel free to look at the beta and play around with it
  8. That's weird. I would go with squad registration rules for that too. Not sure how strictly it's enforced for international tournaments, that might be by design (could be situations where an international manager doesn't always have 23 players available so needs to use greyed out ones)
  9. Good point, I just scrapped the "remaining wage budget" entry from the rich teams and will run a test now to see if it helps. Teams like Real Madrid have that blank so it can't be that important, the game will figure out a new number by itself (hopefully increased due to all the money we have coming in now) Still updating this and the other Gulf files until the window closes, then I'll get my own long-term save going. Let me know if anyone spots anything else that could use improvement. Oh yeah, to get Iniesta moving to UAE use this file
  10. What happens if you add nation rules for USSR, and then just copy and paste over the competitions etc from the other file. Otherwise I think they're right, once it's loaded as Russia it still thinks that as far as the DB selection screen
  11. Looks like each group has one team from 0-3, one from 4-7, etc, doesn't it? I suppose for your format, you could have all the teams from one nation share a seed, and tell it to draw them together in "group settings"
  12. I've got an idea to scrap the CCL and put them all in an expanded Copa Libertadores. This will be for FM23 but you could take the same format into FM22. Will work on it next week when I'm back at my laptop
  13. Isn't there a stage flag (or "other stage flag") that does exactly that? Good for keeping playoff goals out of a golden boot race
  14. Enjoy it! Haha, I think I might retire after FM23, been a lot of fun fixing SI's mistakes and expanding the international football world this year but I should probably focus on real life in the next one
  15. It used to be that if you scheduled a tournament outside FIFA dates that would happen automatically. But you could do it with squad selection rules I think
  16. As a result of dropping the hard-coded qualifying, I wouldn't use that qualifying setup you have, just use "get last winner" in the "teams" list or "qualified teams" for all the competitions you wanna use
  17. It qualifies teams in the background for the CWC every time teams win their CL (and it's both finalists for Europe, and for some reason 3 teams for Africa). So it has a hidden list of qualified teams it thinks need to be used in every comp. So follow my instructions above and also make sure "all qualified teams play in competition" is unchecked (you'll need to check the box on the left just to make sure the box that pops up on the right is unchecked)
  18. Go under "teams", "qualified teams" and check the box for "clear current list of qualified teams" or whatever it is. It thinks those teams have already qualified for the default 24-team version and has them at the top of the list. So use that option to clear the list and then just use "get last winner" in other settings Only 5 continental champions? No love for OFC?
  19. There's some "joint competition" setting for those types of relegation playoffs I think, might need to tick a box in the promotion playoff and relegation playoff too. I have something similar in my Qatar file
  20. Yes, same 4-team group format. The hosts are selected in the same semi-random method as with the default game, Spain seem to host 2030 in most tests
  21. Finally sorted out the 4-team groups at the World Cup without messing up any hard-coded stuff like hosting: Just working on getting Canada and Mexico into their home groups now. Final is in Dallas until we hear otherwise. Download link in OP is updated
  22. Lol, that's annoying, I've seen that before as well. Can't recall what the issue was but there was a redundant entry somewhere, like there was a stage finished action or something like that telling the competition that the final winner was the champion, but it wasn't complex enough to require that so it showed up twice
  23. Yeah, take a look at "qualified teams" and you can see I added them in there, and then just added spaces to the preliminary stage (was able to keep the same rounds, just had to change the numbers of teams in certain rounds, and numbers of teams being added to certain rounds). Also had to manually adjust the ranking levels, obviously, for the overall competition (you can see my changes there too) to account for the 3 extra teams
  24. That's always a backup option but not recommended, usually means an issue with ranking levels. The game doesn't actually "know" who's winning the competition if you have to add history like that, so AFAIK no trophy presentation, no pre-match news items about the big final, etc
