Popular Post Shankly84 Posted September 10 Popular Post Share Posted September 10 (edited) SEASON 9 – 2032/33 – Tanzanian Premier League Fixtures: 1 2 3 - First Team Squad: 1 2 – Under 19s Squad: 1 2 - Competitions Manager Profile: Characteristics - Attributes Club Profile - General - Facilities - Honours - Finances - Transfers League Season Similar to last season, the plan was to build on the previous 3 years and close the gap to the top. Still 50-1 with the bookies, but the odds are drastically closing. The season itself started off in fine form, beating Young Africans 3-0 in the Community Shield Final after beating Azam FC on pens in the Semi-Final. Our first community Shield. The league season couldn’t have got off to a worse start. A 4-3 defeat at Kagera Sugar, despite an XG of 5.8 to their 1.7. So frustrating!! Despite this, we won the next 5 games to take 15 points from a possible 18 and found ourselves 2nd behind Simba. Things continued to be tight at the top and we had an opportunity to get ourselves in the title race when we travelled to Young Africans. We couldn’t replicate our Community Shield win and went down 4-2, leaving us 9 points behind them in 3rd place, although having played a game less. By the time we had beat Geita Gold in our 21st game, we found ourselves just 4 points off Simba in 2nd place, with Young Africans 1 point behind us with a game in hand. A disappointing loss at Coastal Union looked like it had ended any outside chance of a title, but we carried on plodding away and with 5 games left it was a 3-way shootout with us, Young Africans and Simba separated by only 3 points. A 3-2 loss at title rivals Simba meant the title had gone and to add insult to injury, we lost 2-1 at Namungo on the last game. A 3rd place finish and 8 points off the top, meant no title but massive improvement. CAF Confederation Cup Another chance to have a pop at Africa’s second continental competition and hopefully a chance to make some much-needed money. The preliminary put us up against Eritrea’s Red Sea. We comfortably beat them 12-3 on aggregate to meet Coton FC of Benin in the 1st round. An emphatic 8-0 away win was followed by a strange 1-1 home draw to win 9-1 on aggregate. A tough group awaited with; SCC Mohammedia (Morrocco), Al-Masry (Egypt) and Orlando Pirates (South Africa). SSC up first with a 3-1 home win to get the ball rolling. Next up we travelled to Egypt for a famous 2-0 win at Al-Masry. Orlando Pirates beat us home and away, but a win away in Morrocco and a 1-1 draw at home to Al-Masry meant we progressed to the quarter finals. A tough draw against Club African of Tunisia in the quarters and a 1-1 draw in the 1st leg (at home) meant it was all to do in Tunisia. We couldn’t get the job done and went down 2-0 to go out in the last 8. Progress though and some money in the bank. Federation Cup Going in as holders the draw was quite favourable throughout. After beating Mbao, Njombe Mji and Transit camp, we demolished Mbaya City 4-1 in the semis to set up a tough game against Young Africans. A classic final saw us come hit an 88th minute winner from Mohamad after Young Africans had equalised in the 86th minute. What a way to win it and back to back cups as well!! THE PLAYERS Selemani Green A great breakout season for Green, as the back-up RB. Ayoub Kibombo Continues his impressive form at right back, making that position his own. Said Ali Ali broke into the team at centre back. A 6.81 average rating not something to shout about, but 29 first team appearances at 16 definitely something to build on. David Shabani Continued his impressive form. Another 15 goals, albeit 9 them penalties. Daudi Mseja 21 goals in 45 games from attacking midfield and now the clubs leading league goal scorer. Mussa Salum Excellent season at left win again. 22 goals. Samson Mohamad Only made 4 starts but managed 5 goals and bagged the winner in the cup final. Hopefully see more of him moving forward. Tanzman Ngasa Really kicked on this season. 35 goals in 44 appearances, although currently unhappy due to me triggering a contract extension. THE YOUTH INTAKE 1 2 Another good level intake with Andrew Madeleke the pick of the bunch and a possible partner for Said Ali. Under 19s finished 3rd. OFF THE FIELD Reached 300 games in management and manager of the season again. SEASON REPORT Progress made in the league, as it felt like we had a small chance with the title. We do have two very good players, as usual neither will sign new contracts as want to move to better players. Both were given contract extensions that I have forced on them when giving them their first contracts. Koetzer Posted September 11 Share Posted September 11 House of Billiards | Suriname | Season 2029 Once again we had a very strong start, however this time Inter was really close in the first half until the schedule become a complete mess (we had a break in June, so July and August were overloaded with league, cup and continental fixtures), but after that our squad management appeared to be a lot better! Cup One more win over Inter and a comeback against Robinhood gave us the first ever double! Caribbean Shield A much better draw this time, none of the group stage opponents (except the Haitians) could cause us any problems, but then Inter finally got a revenge for losing national titles with a shootout win (their goalkeeper is probably the best player in Surinamese league now and saved three penalties from four). I thought that 3rd place playoff also gives us a place on a higher level, but sadly it’s only for finalists (what’s the point of this game then?) Squad stats Marcelencio Waal – despite not being a regular starter in the league (Hardley is our first choice now) he scored a lot against weaker Caribbean teams and remained the best goalscorer. G.Bynoe *27a – had an impressive season on the left wing. Transfers – since we have a lot of players on contracts, some of them could be loaned out for match practice. Youth intake (preview) Pinas *29a | Dolaini *29b | I.Gravenberch *29c | Overman *29d | Dakriet *29e | R.Gravenberch *29f No ready first team players this time. The team really missed all-time top scorer Ilias Giannikoglou (47b), who left at the end of last season. We also had a smaller squad than in previous years and started a new 20-year-old goalkeeper, which led to us conceding a lot more and struggling to stay near the top of the table. We finished the regular season in 3rd, 11 points behind leaders Panathinaikos, who went on to win the league for the first time in 53 years! Thankfully, we managed to secure 2nd place on the final day, qualifying for the Champions League next season—otherwise, it would've been a complete disaster if we had missed out on Europe's top competition. In the Greek Cup, we got past Panachaiki and Aigaleo but were knocked out by AEK in the semi-finals. In the Champions League, we achieved our best-ever result in the league phase with 16 points, but it still wasn’t enough to finish in the top 8. We had to play a knockout round against Arsenal, a team we had beaten earlier in the group stage. Unfortunately, we couldn’t replicate that success, losing both matches with an 8-5 aggregate. Despite a below-expectation season, we had a few players named in the Super League Team of the Year: Prokopis Varsamidis (56c) at left-back, Vangelis Marantas (58c) at center-back, Thodoros Bedrelis (47d) at right-back, Pierre (54a) as a defensive midfielder, and Panagiotis Tsanaktsoglou (59b) as an attacking midfielder. He was also our most regular player this season, with Stavros Diamantopoulos 57c as our top goalscorer. Youth intake: This year’s intake was better than last year, with a few players who could make the first team in 2-3 years, like Ntimos Vergos (63a) and Christos Gaitanidis (63b). However, it’s a bit disappointing that, after all these years, about a third of our a/b/c rated players are goalkeepers... Popular Post RCola1 Posted September 11 Popular Post Share Posted September 11 Brora Rangers F.C. - Season 1 I had a previous campaign I posted a few weeks ago with another Scottish team, but I was unceremoniously sacked when I agreed to play youngsters in the first team and they said I didn't keep that promise. I played 3 or 4 academy graduates as starters, so it may have been a glitch. I then tried two other teams and got sacked mid-season. I was successful with this third team so far. Brora is a village in the Scottish highlands and has much weaker facilities, but the squad is full of prime players which allowed me a mid table finish. I probably would've went into the promotion places, but my entire from line was injured for half the season. The first youth intake was pretty poor, but I was already granted upgrades. We also suffered a lot of injuries in the second half of the season which cost us but also meant I was able to give game time to my promising youngsters. We pretty much matched last season, won a couple more game but about the same really. Feel like in the next couple seasons we might (I stress might) be looking at a proper promotion push as long as people continue to develop, FA Cup - We're just not a cup team really, probably because I tend to rotate a bit too much League Cup - Same as above really Transfers - Managed to get some loans to actual league clubs (bottom 4 of league two but still) which is nice Squad - Think this is the best the squad has been for a while where I don't worry now when I have to rotate or even make subs like I have done the past couple of seasons. We have to move on a few players this summer though as they can't play at this level but I feel more confident doing that this summer Youth Intake - A little disappointing after the preview. Looked like we would get some quality depth but as it was it was fine. Personalities are worrying though, not sure why they've started to be less than good again. We wouldn't have won the division but could have had a first-round bye. Regardless, we got wiped in the playoffs. Nothing special in the cups, I'd love to plug along deeper into the FA cup for a payday, but not going to burn match fitness on priority players with this thin of a roster and such a busy schedule. No sales, but three retirements. The first two were of emergency backup players so I didn't care. The last surprised me as it was my 35-goal-a-season striker who decided player/coach was too much and just went with coach inexplicably. There are no immediately standout players. Hopefully, Some will develop into nice players, but with no upgrades that may take some time. 2026/27 Season Preview: It seems the game thinks I'm lost without Danny Wells also. 10 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...

Youth facilities and youth recruitment are getting pretty good, but the players coming through aren't that great yet (if that will ever happen) Actually, I had one absolutely amazing intake two years ago, scored 21 goals and 5 assists in 30 games as a 16 year old in the Championship and then Liverpool stole him for $6 million. The training facility upgrade came through and the board agreed to upgrade youth recruitment right after the prize money came in for the Mid-Ulster Cup and they agreed to upgrade junior coaching instead of giving me an extension, so we got a few boosts this past season.. Won the Mid Ulster Cup this season giving us ~75K prize. Transfers: Spoiler Youth Candidates: Maintained our perfect record of "golden generation" for this save. Nobody who will crack the first team, but some who will hopefully develop. Mixed bag of personalities, with a few to build off. Added Asia via Turkey, Sweden and Macedonia this intake Squad Update: Here is how the squad is rated heading into next season. Sharvin did not retire and is back for another season, which is awesome since he is the determination mentor. Going to switch up the tactic a bit this season.and move the wingers up. Going to also try out a true 4-4-2 to take advantage of a really good Poacher. If that works well, it might become the base tactic by the end of the season. The squad improved again by a tiny bit (0.4 rating points). The team is not developing well at all. Going to try a 2 squad rotation this season as we have solid depth behind the starters and see if that will help not get them too tired. Everything clicked this season and we completed the challenge by winning both the Premier League and Champions League! In the league, we never hit a bad form and had a few periods of very good form. In the end, we only needed to win one of the last two games against Leeds or Crystal Palace. We unfortunately lost to Leeds. Thus I was a bit nervous before the last game. But we won the championship in the end! In Champions League league phase we had a good draw. I played the best 11 against Paris, Milan, and Barcelona, and the second best 11 against the other teams. We qualified as number 4. In round of 16, we were up against AC Milan again. We lost the first game away from home. But in the second leg, we won in the penalty shoot out. In the quarter final, we were up against Paris SG, again. In the first leg away from home, we lost again. In the second leg we won. This time in extra time. In the semi final, we were up against Barcelona, again another team from the league phase. We lost the first game away from home 1-4. I though it was over. But in the second leg we managed to win 4-1 too. We won in the penalty shoot out. 3 great comebacks and we made it to the final! In the final, we were up against Napoli. In the middle of the first half we managed to score from a corner, and just before half time we secured the lead with 2-0. My team has lots of depth and one elite player. I rotated the team a lot and I think a lot of my success was due to playing time management. Flynn developed well this season and he is by far my best player. Eze had a great season with 16 assists and 10 goals. Asamoah and O'Halloran did well in the defense and Harewood and Jamerson did well offensively. For the first time in many years, I did not have any players on the NXGN-list. A bit disappointing. Flynn, my best player, won the best young player award! He has elite mental stats! We also had 4 players on the team of the year! Asamoah also won the best rookie award. The youth intake preview was great. 5 stars and two A's. The actual intake was okay. 4 elite talents, but I am not that happy with the personalities. No outgoing transfers of significance this season. Finances and Upgrades No upgrade to report about here. Next season Well, the challenge is over. Maybe I will continue with this save. Maybe I will play with my only other FM24 save, with my favourite save. Youth intake (preview): Overall a disappointing intake, a short defender and another goalie (I have about 4 high-PA keepers now) as top prospects, and not much else. After mid-season break we managed to snatch the top spot and never let go, finishing the season comfortably five points ahead of Maribor. In League Cup we made the finals, where we lost to Maribor after over-time. Would be great to get a double, but it's not a big issue. As far as team goes Sprah's departure left us only with one quality CB and overall our defense is not looking that hot. On the other hand we keep getting one class winger after another. Kompara had his best season yet and we had a break-through with Matko, who became our starting left winger. This season we only played Conference League and we wanted to make the best of it. Qualification was harder than i expected, Kapaz was easy but somehow we only drew vs. IA at home and Groningen was a tough opponent. On the other hand the group stage was very easy for us, we beat all the opponents except Partizan and secured play-offs after only four games. Antalyaspor was our first opponent and I was confident, as we beat them in group stage comfortably. They surprised us at their stadium but we managed to destroy them home in Slovenia, which also triggered some talks about goal tally record. In quarterfinals we drew Aberdeen and we won both games before facing Girona in semifinals. We played great defensive game in Spain and secured amazing draw, but at home Girona put on another level of performance and showed us that we're still not ready to challenge for the title. Almost broke into top50! Baby steps.. Key players: Saso Horvat, David Kompara & Franci Novak Youth in-take: Ivan Segrt & Mile Makaric Youth in-take - we would really need a goalie and full-backs and we are not getting them.. Lost 6 straight to end the season firmly in the bottom 3. Tweaked the tactics slightly to go unbeaten in the relegation group and escape relegation. Got to the semi-final of the 1st div cup. In the Finnish cup the team faced a lower league team in the 3rd rd before then losing to 2nd div VIFK 0-1 away in the 4th rd with several players cup tied after playing for the b team in the 1st rd. 2 transfers were arranged before i arrived, 1 player was immediately let go, the other did not play but earns twice as much as the next highest player at the club. Finances look a bit dicey with not much real income, turned away a few £250 bids for Kurki from prem teams. The defense is really poor at CB along with the GK, the 1st choice being the shortest GK at 5'8 i have seen. The attack under performed in the league as well according to xg. Fazli was my top scorer and best player, Paski was also in good form all season. The youth preview promised much and the intake did not disappoint with several squad players through. No real improvements to CB, GK or ST from this batch. Lempinen was the pick along with Pllana. On the other hand it's impossible to upgrade youth facilities and the in-take was poor once again, which is quite concerning, but perhaps we can get a take-over soon. Volker Roser rose this season and replaced last years shining star Matko in the starting lineup. Quiter year for Kompara this season. Riga was easy, Jablonec suprisingly tough and same goes for Torpedo Kutaisi. Tough draw - I am happy with draws against Lazio and Wolfsburg, but I feel like we should have played better vs. Brugge. I like that you're tracking the personalities because it highlights something about the game that really bugs me. Youth football is so competitive and only the very best get signed for clubs. To suggest that the majority of players coming through are 'unambitious' or 'low determination' is absolute folly. They should be the opposite! Of course not every player is going to make it and this is the game's way of giving you pointers but it doesn't make realistic sense. I like that players are assigned personalities, that's realistic and absolutely it should affect their development. Popular Post scarp Posted Saturday at 13:24 Popular Post Share Posted Saturday at 13:24 (edited) NK Roltek Dob 2040/41 This season was somewhat harder than the previous one, we were on second spot for a long time trying to overtake Maribor which we managed three games before the end of the season due to win against them. We also beat Radomlje in Cup final to secure back-to-back doubles. Mile Makaric became our best CB at the age of 18 and is now partner to Goran Filipovic, our first 5* youth in-take player, who just turned 30. The issue this season was our striker, as Kompara was not really hitting any shots and was not our topscorer after 6 consecutive years. On thye other hand I did some tactical tweaking to our central midfield and Oblak in his 26 years old became very important to us, as he managed to score 17 goals from CM position. We move up to 4th all-time most accomplished Slovenian club. Dinamo Minsk was harder than I expected and Shakhtar was just too hard of an opponent for us, we moved to EL. We did pretty well in the group stage, only losing to Young Boys and Wolfsburg and securing advancement in last round against APOEL. We beat Trabzonspor at home and I was sure Sporting will be too much, but luckily we managed to beat them on penalties. I did not give us big chances vs. Atletico but the team surprised in both games, when we were competitive against one of the better teams in football. Key players: Alen Oblak, Mile Makaric & Franci Novak Youth in-take: Vlado Zivec, Joze Kotnik & Zan Stor Youth in-take - that's more like it! Popular Post Neo_Geo Posted Saturday at 14:03 Popular Post Share Posted Saturday at 14:03 KERCEM WATCH FROM THE SIDELINES AS HAMRUN PLAY FOR THE TITLE I love that this game still has the ability to surprise me and make me feel emotions that are akin to real life football. Over the course of the season there was little between us and Hamrun but I handed the advantage back to them with a poor 0-0 draw at home to Hibernians with 5 games to go. I knew there was little chance of Hamrun slipping up so I opted to be more attacking in every game and try to get a better goal difference. In the 5 remaining games I managed to improve the goal difference by 16 and closed the gap a little but truth be told Hamrun were scoring freely as well. I played my last match on the Friday beating Marsaxlokk 4-0 (A) and had to wait until Monday for Hamrun to play Valletta (A), here's how the table looked: 3 points ahead but 4 goal difference worse off and Hamrun Spartans just needed a single goal win to take the tile back from me. So I decided to watch the match and much to my delight Valletta took a 5th minute lead but I know Hamrun are strong in the final third so I was not celebrating at this point and I was right to as by 29 minutes Hamrun were now in the lead and peppering the goalmouth with shots. This was going to be cricket score. However, half time came and went with still a goal left in the game. Hamrun couldn't extend their lead but any highlights for Valletta were few and far between. I knew time was running out but Valletta just needed a goal to hand me the title. Injury time began and Valletta's subs gave them a shot in the arm as they started to push forward more but still couldn't score. They won a throw in on the left in Hamrun's half with less than a minute to go..... Spoiler I anxiously waited to see if the linesman would move or stand still but the goal stood and the feeling of winning the title like that was incredible, but no trophy lifting this time around. If I had lost the title to Hamrun I would have been fine with it because they deserved it just as much as we did and its clear that to become dominant I need to just start beating them in the 2 head-to-head ties. We participated in our first ever Super Cup and lost in extra time to Hamrun Spartans with the goal coming in the 120th minute, it was a sore one to take but I avenged that defeat 3 days later winning 1-0 in the league. In the National Cup we put out Hamrun in the quater finals with a 1-0 AET win which meant I had a path to the final, which we took and then played Gzira United in the final Spoiler A dominant 4-1 win over a fairly tricky side was very pleasing given at this point it looked like I wasn't going to win the title. In Europe as expected the Champions League music disappeared just as quickly as it appeared as we lost3-2 on aggregate to Sheriff Tiraspol. AS it was a first qualifying round exit it meant the Europa Conference qualifiers once more where we won the 6 games in front of us against teams from Estonia, Montenegro and Belarus as we qualified for the first time into the League Phase. After that point it looks bad with 1 point gained and 5 losses but looking at each of the losses all but 1 were only by a single goal. It was strange to feel as pleased as I was even though we finished 4th bottom. Unfortunately Hamrun didn't make it into the League Phase as they drew Dinamo Kiev in the third qualifying round but only lost 3-2 on aggregate. It's pleasing from a nation perspective to see that we are making progress. We hit a significant milestone by turning professional at the end of this season and I have managed to get a few players on professional terms however Spiteri YP-4A and Vella YP-4A don't want to talk as they feel the squad needs significant strengthening. It's worth noting that these two players are the only ones who have full international caps, so they may be leaps and bounds above everyone else. Youth Intake A really good year for the intake which saw me get 2 central defenders who are upgrades on our existing defenders and I also got a left back that I have been waiting for years to come through. Now the only problematic area are the strikers. Top 5 Elite Talents Spoiler Ciantar is obviously the pick of the bunch with Fairly Determined personality for an added bonus but Azzopardi is also a very good centre back and is Driven. With a left back finally coming through I'm hoping he isn't a false dawn as with some of the other Left Backs I've had come through. Spreadsheets Spoiler In terms of this years intake with the relative potential it looks like a really good year with 7 of this intake appearing in the top 10 ranked players are the club: I've also started to track the average attributes per season as well as the average changes of attributes to see a) the overall change in the squad ability (includes all players) and b) how the players are developing in general (only includes the players from intakes excluding this seasons as they have no ratings from previous years). I'm also tracking the lower and upper drive (again this is the combination of determination, professionalism and ambition based on the ranges in the personalities). The 4 columns to the right shows the average abilities which is improving so year on year I'd like to see this green in all 4 areas until we peak in terms of our intake and we actually start losing our best players. The drive values again I want to see improve as this means in general the squad is more determined, professional and ambitious. The change columns isn't necessarily about seeing green or red formatting the most important thing is that they are not negative so in the above its clear that technical training is a problematic area, unfortunately due to the quality of Maltese coaches I can't be too picky. Now for the top 30 ranked players: I really like this view as it shows me ranking based on the various fields I have used to determine relative potential but then I can also see clearly on the right what players are improving their attributes and how they compare to others ranked in the top 30. I have to try to ignore anything related to transfer values until we make a full transition to professional by getting all of the players that I want for the long term on a full time contract. At the moment this seems quite accurate as Vella YP-4A and Spiteri YP-4A have both now been capped and I don't feel Camilleri YP-5A is too far off so its good to see they are ranked quite highly. If this is accurate then intake 6 promises to be great for us going forward. Club News The big (and only) news is that we have turned professional after I asked the board following the title win and they agreed to it. With nearly £3m in the bank I think we are quite stable but not yet at a point where I can be professional AND continue to invest in the facilities. We'll need CL money or years of Europa/Conference money before I can seriously invest once more as we make virtually no money from gate receipts, the league money is great don't get me wrong but in comparison to the facility improvement costs it barely makes a dent. Another promising aspect was the U21s winning their league: Kieran Kemp left to Taxrien which I was fine with and as of now there have been much reduced approaches for players at the club. Squad News As with last season I have released a number of youth players as I continue to get rid of those at the bottom of the pile: The most notable players being released are Ian Micallef and Thomas Ebejer who played 118 and 91 games respectively for Kercem Ajax. I also released Josef Borg YP-2A as his current ability and potential have plummeted due to the increasing ability of the intakes each year. He did play 78 times with 16 goals and 21 assists so he really did play his part but I have to keep moving forward. The best XI is looking fantastic now and with 2 really good centre backs coming through in this intake I am really hopeful of a full XI with an average rating of 7+. If I had a striker to match the ability of Vella and Camilleri I reckon I'd be absolutely bossing this league but Adamyan YP-4A is doing well enough with 23 goals in 29 games this season. Squad depth we look light still in CB, DL and SC but the other areas are starting to come through more now. I took the screenshot of the experience matrix before releasing Micallef and Ejeber which means we only have one peak player in Mifsud who will not likely be featuring a lot this coming season, I'll be pleased to see some of the youth players starting to move to the right in this chart. Next seasons XI has 4 players from this years intake appearing in it at CB (2), LB and AML which shows the intake quality continues to improve (I am now just waiting for it to reach its peak and then have decades of slogging away to get better quality coming through but thats what this save is about). Building a Nation I've opted for relabelling this section from National News to Building a Nation as I feel this is the point in the save where things start to move on this front. As I mentioned earlier we made it to the Europa Conference League Group Phase this year and Hamrun did the same last year. The coefficients have improved to the point where the second place in the league get into the 2nd Qualifying round of the Europa Conference. We have a long way to go but its encouraging to see at this stage that both myself and Hamrun are doing a decent job in Europe. Turning professional will hopefully open the door for our players going on loan to help other teams in our division and make the league stronger overall, but so far the only player I have managed to sign on a deal and try to loan out has been unsuccessful. From a national perspective Malta remain in 141st in the world and as predicted the two wins against North Macedonia were the only points picked up in the World Cup Qualifying as they finished second bottom. I hope to expand on this section in coming seasons. Bingo Card Another 6 targets off the list but I think it's getting to the stage now where it will slow down a fair bit. Neo_Geo's Final Thoughts We definitely got lucky this season with the title win but as I said we didn't fluke it over the entire season, we deserved to be where we were alongside Hamrun. With the additions to the squad I feel I will be much stronger overall, we only conceded 14 goals this year but with two centre backs and a left back coming through I think we might be able to shave off a few conceded goals. I do feel we are a quality striker away from being able to dominate domestically and whilst I should have zero expectations of games in Europe it's good to see we aren't being totally outclassed. At this stage I have no plans to alter my formation and the players coming through are being trained to fit with that formation. Going forward I am going to do 2 seasons per update to start to get through the game quicker as the updates still seem to take a while to do. We were a much better side this time, really deserved the step up. We actually had xg to put us 3rd in the table, so we could have easily gotten into the playoffs if we could finish a bit better. Youth Intake Big improvement again this year, we have upgraded the facilities a lot lately and it has showed! (Well it has according to the star rating anyway!) Lots more potential this year, but none of the players seem first team ready. FA Trophy Nice trophy to add to the cabinet. In front of all our loving fans! Competitions Kabamba has had the season of his life - This makes sense as he has been moaning about leaving. I am ignoring his transfer requests but he might be off for free soon! Segrt and Roser are amazing wingers and I rejected offers up to 10M for them. Mile Makaric had his release clause triggered by Juventus and PSG, but he decided to re-sign with us instead of joining them. My concern are now our fullbacks, both Ivanovic and Kastrevec are our worst starting players and there's no talent in the pipeline. Turku was tougher than expected, but we managed to beat also Shkendija and Brugge to qualify for group stage. We beat Feyenoord and managed to draw vs Valencia and PSV. Should have done better against Celtic. Proud to see my plazers are finally getting senior national team caps! Despite losing a couple of the very thin squad I took over, and having 12 players for most of the season, we did amazingly! We didn't just win the league, we smashed it! The key factor is two players, an amazing goalkeeper in Kai McKenzie-Lyle, and our top scorer Ira Jackson Jr who scored almost 60 goals this season! The start of the season was amazing winning the first 8 matches, and then went from there. We only got the youth intake before the final match of the season, so they had very little impact, but the intake looked good, and I think we need it when we are going to face a bunch of better teams next season. My main concern is to make sure everyone signs a new contract for us, as we are in danger of losing a few key players, but I have hope we can keep them. Onwards! FA Cup: We beat Faversham, Eastbourne Borough, and Bromley before we lost to Burton Albion in the 1st round after a replay. FA Trophy: We beat Worthing and Chippenham Town before we lost to Farnborough in the 4th round. Best players from the academy: Daniel Turner 25b - Got his debut in the final match of the season, but didn't stand out. Darron Berthanneau 25c - Subbed in in the final match for his debut. In League Cup we lost in quarterfinals to Maribor. I find it super frustrating that we cannot progress with youth facilities even with 70M in the bank. One of the most infuriating things that happened to me in FM - youth in-take was very poor again. On the other hand we have the first wonderkid of the save - Ivan Segrt for whom I already declined 30M offer from Barcelona. We have now few top class players but I am not sure how long I can keep them - probably 1 to 2 years. And the quality of full-backs is non-existant. Due to rise on coefficients we only had to beat Brugge. We had much easier draw and also played way better this time and managed to get to play-offs! I thought we would have a chance vs Benfica and it was close games, but in the end we fell short. New record! I had to switch the tactic up to play with no full-backs or defensive wingers as we just do not have anyone better than 1.5* and the tactic is not working properly even though we currently have 3 wonderkids in the team. In Europe we were doing sort of okay, but in the league we got hammered by many teams and barely kept to second place. We are reaching 100M and no possible upgrade of yourh facilities. Kotnik, Segrt and Makaric will all have last season of their contracts in forn of them and I think there's very low chance any of them will sign with us again. I do not see point of selling them even though I could get around 100M+ for them but there's nothing I can do with the money. We at least managed to win Slovenian Cup by beating Maribor in overtime. Qualifying was easy this time around. We beat Celtic, Lazio, Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund, overall great results but we have been given super tough draw in KO round. Decent games, but we are not close to PSG yet. I keep rejecting all the sales but won't be able to hold onto my wonderkids for much longer. Wow, our amazing board agreed to use 2% of our balance to expand our stadium! We're now in season ten so decent progress. Had a couple of relegations from League 1 along the way but this time round we did a back to back promotion run. [Minor vent: we almost bottled the promotion. Needed 4 points from our last 4 games to secure automatic promotion. 3 of the games were against the bottom 3 sides in the league, the bottom 2 already confirmed as doomed. We got 1 point from 12. Managed the playoff easily after that though.] Felt good to get that off my chest! So in the ten seasons so far we've had some decent upgrades whenever we had money. Youth recruitment and junior coaching are up to 14 and 17 respectively. They won't improve the training facilities any further at the moment, both had just 1 improvement each so poor really. Last season the cost of running the youth side of things was £79k for the whole year. This season it's jumped to £84k per month! I can only presume this is because we're in the Championship now? We are hemorrhaging money! We had around £400k in the bank and it's dwindling fast. By the end of the season we'll be well in debt at this rate. So advice required please! Should I ask the board to reduce the recruitment and junior coaching levels? Or just carry on and let the board deal with the car crash that's coming? We don't really have any valuable assets to sell. Couple of players are wanted by clubs in the Championship but the fees they pay at this level are extremely low. Great season for us as we managed to clinch the title without losing a single game. Although it's bittersweet because both our star CBs Makaric and Kotnik will leave at the end of the season to Saudi and Inter. Kompara is still our best attacker but I started playing Roser there occasionally. Segrt will play one more season but he will leave after that, we had two youth in-takes in a row without even a 4* PA player so I am not sure how long can we keep up. Tadej Lazar (7+22) and Zan Stor (23+9) had break-out season in central midfield, being supported by Uros Vidovic as DM (2+10). I fully gave up on full-backs and we play with 3 in the back, which is already sub-optimal, but I do not see other options. In Slovenian Cup we beat Maribor 3-1 in the finals and secured a double. Teplice surprised us and we are out of Champions League very early. Thankfully no surprise in Europa League. We beat some good teams and only lost to the EL specialists - Sevilla. AEK was easy, PSV were rather hard but we got lucky on penalties. Rennes and AS Roma were both close opponents but we were better in both games and deserved to reach the final where we will face Newcastle. Newcastle started stronger and got ahead thanks to Young's shot from outside the box. We were quick to counter as Stor overtook Newcastle defense and scored. 7 minutes before half-time Segrt got fouled in the penalty box and Kompara scored from the penalty mark. We controlled the game going forward and deservedly won Europa League! We had takeover but still cannot progress with youth facilities. Unfortunately, we could win the whole thing again though, as we went down 2-1 to Simba in the final. The league season started in a pretty normal manner with our odds now down to 33-1 and looking reasonable. Despite the unspectacular start, we managed to beat Champions Simba 4-0 in the 4th game at home. By the 10th game a 5-1 victory at home to Ihefu FC saw us sat 8 points behind leaders Young Africans with a game in hand. Game 11 saw us defeat Young Africans in their own back yard, 4-2. This put is 5 points behind with a game in hand despite the average start. By game week 19 we travelled to Simba in 1st place but could only manage a draw, a 6-6 draw!!! A crazy game saw us equalise with 6 minutes left, but at the same time Young Africans scored a 95th minute winner away at Mitbwa Sugar to go two points clear at the top. In the next games Young Africans threw away a 2-0 home lead to draw with Fountain Gate, and we were back top on goal difference. Game 25 for us was a massive one. Young Africans at home and a chance to go clear with a game in hand. They had a man sent off after just 6 minutes and we took full advantage, racing into a 3 goal lead by half time with goals from striker Ngasa, left back Yahya and DM shabani from the spot. Things got nervy in the second half as they pulled two back, but we managed to hold on to win 3-2, despite a late red card for ourselves. This meant we were now two points clear with a game in hand with 5 left to play, ten clear of Simba. We had a real chance now to win our first Premier League. We were brought straight back down to earth with a poor 0-0 away to KMC, who were sat 3rd bottom. We were now back level again, but with a game in hand. We opened it back to 3 points with a 3-0 home win to Namungo and then beat Coastal Union 3-0 to go within two games of the title. A superb 5-2 win at Geita Gold meant the title was all but sealed due to our +15-goal difference over Young Africans but a 2-1 win over Mtibwa Sugar (even though we were trailing) meant we had done it. 10 seasons in and we have our first title!!!! CAF Confederation Cup The CAF confederation cup started in the preliminary round again, where we swept aside Sporting Bissau (Guinea-Bissau) 11-0 on aggregate and Nairobi City (Kenya) 9-1 on aggregate. The group stage saw us up against Future of Egypt, MangaSport of Gabon and Orlando Pirates of South Africa. We flew through the group stage with flying colours winning every game. A 3-0 win away at Orlando Pirates the standout performance. Into the quarter-final and we were drawn up against Morrocco’s FAR Rabat. A superb 5-2 away win meant we had one foot in the semi’s before winning 4-2 at home to go through 9-4 on aggregate. The semi-final proved a little trickier! We travelled to Ghana for the first leg against Medeama SC but ended up losing out 4-2. Back to Tanzania and we wiped the floor with them and ran out 5-1 winners to progress to the final. The final was held at a neutral venue in Algeria, although was still over two legs (which I found quite strange). We were up against Orlando Pirates of South Africa. We had previously beat them twice in the groups, so had reason to feel confident. The first leg ended up a cagey 0-0. The second leg couldn’t have started any worse with us 2-0 down after 11 minutes. We managed to pull one back in the 76th minute through Salum Mwashiuya, but it was too little too late, and it wasn’t to be. So close to our first continental trophy but Runners-up was as good as it got. Tanzanian Federation Cup Going in as back-to-back holders, a second string team got past Dodoma Jiji 4-1 at their place. A tough draw next at home to Azam FC but we demolished them 5-0. Next was another tough draw at home to Simba. An excellent 6-3 win saw us into the semis again. We made harder work of this though than needed. 2-0 up and KMC scored two goals in the same minute to get it back to 2-2. Luckily, Daudi Mseja managed to pop up with 4 minutes left and put us into the final again, where we would meet Young Africans. In front of 60,000 people Young Africans were looking for revenge after we had managed to win our first title. We took the lead through new intake player 15 year old Omary Mwinyi in the 37th minute and doubled it through Salum Mwashiuya in the 65th. Young Africans hit straight back to half the lead and then equalised with 11 minutes left. It felt like we had thrown it away. Cometh the hour!! New star Omary Mwinyi smashed home in the 88th minute and back up right back Selemani Green broke away in injury time to cap it 4-2. A new star in the making and a league and cup double as well as cup winners 3 years in a row. THE PLAYERS Ayoub Kibombo Continues his impressive form this season. 8 goals, 18 assists and a 7.35 average rating Said Ali 2nd season for Ali and he managed a 34 game season with an average rating of 6.94. Andrew Madeleke Partnering Ali, Madeleke had an impressive campaign with 6 goals in 36 games and an average rating of 7.03. David Shabani Continues as one of the first names on the team sheet. 7.43 average rating and 20 goals. Daudi Mseja Now 2nd choice in the attacking midfielder role but managed an impressive 16 goals in 22 starts. Mussa Salum Keeps going strong in left wing, despite the competition building. Another 17 goals, 16 assisits and an average rating of 7.24. Godfrey Bakari Left winger Bakari has broken into the team as the back up left back, despite coming through the academy as a winger. 7.17 average rating and 3 goals in 11 starts. Salum Mwashiuya Made the attacking midfielder slot his own, scoring an impressive 23 in 29 and average rating of 7.57. Samson Mohamad First breakout season for Mohamad. An excellent 7.68 average rating and 15 goals. Peter Mkwasa Another attacking success for the season with 21 in 30 starts. Tanzman Ngasa The main man in the team now and the focal point. 29 goals in 40 appearances. Also finished top scorer for the league. Omary Mwinyi A special mention to Omary Mwinyi who came through the youth intake. Couldn’t play in the league as he wasn’t registered, but played in the cup semi-final, scoring 3 and managed another 2 in the final against the best team in the country. All at just 15 as well. A bug one for the future!! THE YOUTH INTAKE 1 2 Standard intake in the main, with players filtering through to the first team. Mwinyi already a star in the making though and will be in and around the first team next season. Under 19s finished 3rd. OFF THE FIELD Another manager of the season award. The 4th year running and 6th in total. SEASON REPORT A superb season. League and cup winners and unlucky not to make it a treble. Still a ways to go, but getting closer to sneaking a Europe competition place. Making the top 6 gives a shot at a playoff between 3-6 where two wins and you get in, so can always get lucky before the team is really ready. Won the Mid Ulster Cup again this season giving us nice price money along with the 6th place money has put our balance in good shape. The board still won't agree to anything due to our financial situation and I can't resign most of the coaches because I can't offer them enough wages. I think it is because we moved to quickly on the youth coaching and recruitment, but our projections don't show us losing too much money... oh well, plug along and hope that opens up. Transfers: Spoiler Youth Candidates: Maintained our perfect record of "golden generation" for this save. Our HOYD left the club and I cannot afford any, literally any, of the HOYD on the market and get no response to adverts. It is not too bad as our assistant manager has a professional personality and is stepping into the intake role. Sousa is a day 1 starter at CB and Ruddy and Todd will be on the senior squad and get playing time in the 2nd rotation. Decent mix of personalities this time around. Squad Update: Here is how the squad is rated heading into next season. Going to work Flynn in at AP and also use a 2 forward setup with Gawne as Poacher. Saw some reasonable jumps in rating last season, so rotating two squads must have helped keep them fresh for training. Hopefully the trend continues. The squad jumped up 1.1 rating points heading into the upcoming season. We are closing in on the Championship target and about 3-5 rating points away from being competitive with the top 5 professional teams in the league.
