Minebea Mitsumi FC (Japan) - Season 8 - 2031

Promoted to J1 League (again). After being relegated last season in J2 League, we needed a complete overhaul of the squad. Almost all legacy players were dropped and replaced by young players (17-18 years old). And that worked well. We have had a lot of success and finished in first position quite easily. Our team clearly deserves to play in J1 League now. Some young players have matured and should be able to carry us in J1 League next year.

 Youth intake

Good intake. A lot of potential but I'm still disappointed by the personalities. My second and third best young players have the "casual" personality which means they have very low professionalism. Striker Takano 31.1, DC Fukoin 31.5 and GK Hata 31.14 will probably be added to first squad rotation.

Finances and facilities

We were able to improve Youth Recruitment a little bit ! But J2 League TV money does not cover our expenses and we have been losing money every month this season. Our net debt is back to 1M. We really need that J1 League TV money to stay afloat. In three years the debt will be entirely repaid. Almost there.

Since we have been promoted to J1 League, we are moving back to the 20k-seats stadium. This is a running gag. We have played only two seasons in our 10k-seats stadium that we have bought and cost so many $$$.

Squad

The squad is very young. Most of the players are 17 or 18 y.o. Tanno 29.7, Lee Byung-Min 29.1 and Shigemitsu 29.3 are carrying the team. My problem is the lack of depth at the DC and the GK positions. GK is the biggest problem. Legacy player Amamoto will be 34 years old next season and is declining fast. I will probably replace him by the 15 years old 1-star GK from this year intake. This is scary.

Spoiler

Transfers

For the first time I am receiving offers for my young players. I have not sold anyone so far but I can feel the pressure from top J1 League teams trying to buy my talented players. This means they have some potential !

Spoiler

Next year preview

Back to J1 League. This time our team should have the tools to avoid relegation. Weaknesses at the DC and GK positions are worrisome though. If we get injuries at those positions we could get in big trouble. We will try to continue to improve Youth Recruitment and will repay the debt. Goal is definitely to avoid relegation.

@BustaRaymes nice update, especially the tactical aspects. Do you have the W(A) „wrongfooted“?

Ah good spot. I switched both around a lot. In this case they are on their 'strong' side, like real wingers, but I think it's really about 50-50 on which side they played. Did keep them as W for most games though.

Mauriki FC - Vanuatu - Season 1 - 2020 - Vanuatu Lower League (Tier 3 ) - 1 (promoted in playoff)

The league was split into 4 groups of 8, with the 4 group winners playing one knock out game for two promotion spots. Despite being predicted 4th best out of 32 we had top prediction Black Diamonds in our league. At the beginning it was difficult to see how good our team was - we had a few 5 star players alongside some 1 star players. Our Board wanted us to finish in 1st place. By choosing a team predicted to finish high up we inherited a good squad, but it also meant we had to be successful from the begining.

We won our first 5 games, and it became clear the predictions were correct. In a very short league season - 14 games - we won all but 2 games. We outplayed Lili in the playoff final, but it took us until the 80th to score from a freekick. We also made it to the semi-finals of the cup. Seems a very strange place to start. Our team and a couple of others are probably good enough for the Premier League - our board wants promotion again next season. It seems the difference between teams isn't that much and a good roll on players can lead to a good advanage.

The youth intake was good and a couple of players come straight into the first team - forgot to take a screenshot.

The one issue we have is the fact that everyone is non-contracts and we can't offer anything else. All our players are receving numerous bids, and all we can do is keeping offering more money to stay. So far no one has left. We're going to try making the contract offer for the end of the season and see if that  helps. But if we lose a load of our players, I'm not sure we'll survive this save.

Tokyo Musashino United FC

Season 3| 2026

Meiji-Yasuda J.League Division Three

League: So lets get it out right off the bat, we did in fact get promoted to the 2nd division by way of the playoffs. Prior to the start we lost Shiga due to the board being blinded by the Money, wasn't ideal but we move. Started great and by Mid Season we were definitely in the playoffs race, maybe even the race for promotion if things somehow went even more our way. As time went on and we approached the Final Run in we had managed to squeak ourselves in to playoffs and were really just looking to hang on till the end, we had injuries to a couple of main players and our form started to slip however in a fortunate turn of events we got Rihito Yoshihama in our intake who came in and turned our fortunes around just enough to make the difference.

XG Table - Our expected position was actually the same as our last two seasons but we just seemed to overperform this year although surprisingly Sagamihara was actually the bigger overachiever right behind us who also finished in playoffs.

The first playoff match ended in a Draw with us advancing due to being the higher seed, it was beyond close but a 90th minute equaliser from Riki Iida was the decisive goal.  The playoff Final was a game we actually deserved to win, with the winning goal fittingly coming from Yoshihama to cap off what was an excellent run of form to get us promoted.

  • J.League Cup: Close games against Fukushima United but ultimately we still fell at the first hurdle here.
  • Emperors Cup: Got knocked out second round once again unfortunately.

  • Facilities:  Managed to get not one, not two but three upgrades to both junior coaching and youth recruitment. We also have rented a new Stadium for next season in order to meet requirements.
  • Finance: Looking healthy this year, thanks in part to the selling of an important player. (And not getting a training facility upgrade)
  • Transfers: Shiga was sold but aside from that no other outs.
  • Squad: This season our forwards started to really take a dip in quality, which can be seen in their goal tally's, the absence of Shiga has also not helped matters for them, we definitely had a lot of luck go our way this season as our first 11 really got worse on paper. Kikuchi did an admirable job of taking over Shiga's spot and the younger players provided us with a bit of depth we didn't really have before, Iida in particular was a starter from start to end of the season. Yoshihama only played 7 games but showed his quality across them all with 3 of his goals being game winners.
  • Manager - End of Season: Got a Continental C course but it won't be finished till next year, coming along nicely though.

Youth Intake: The Preview assured me this would be our best intake yet with quality across the board, come October the HOYD would be proven right. With the worst players being at least top talents and us having a large amount of elite talents it was looking fantastic and of course my eyes were immediately drawn to the 5 star player... 2nd Part of Intake

Rihito Yoshihama Y26A - Absolutely ecstatic, I've never had a youth player come through this good especially when relative to the team that produced him. I'll likely be giving him up to some big team sooner rather than later but I am going to enjoy watching this kid play for us. Cherry on the top is a good personality and a penchant for consistency. Went straight into the 1st team and contributed massively.

Ryo Kondo Y26B - Any other year Ryo would likely be the star boy of this intake, nicely rounded stats for a DLP and a fairly professional outlook that gives him a greater chance of reaching his potential. Unfortunately he is in the same intake as Yoshihama.

Tatsuyuki Tada Y26C - Almost first team ready and an emphasis on non nonsense defending, I like Tada a fair bit injury proneness might stall his progress.

Season 5 - 2028/29

Another disappointing season with more mid table mediocrity.

None of the youth players are improving the squad, another poor intake with no elite talents.

And can't improve any of the facilities as the bounty takeover Chairman has withdrawn funds :onmehead:

@XaW - thats a fantastic start. Out of interest do you use the same tactic home and away, or vary it up?

What is the tactic if you don't mind me asking?

Using the same old one I've posted in here before, as always slightly tweaked based on the players I have. And yes, I start it for every game, but change mentality or roles if I feel I need to.

Season 6 - 2029/30

A better season that was spent towards the top half of the table for once but we faded away from the playoffs.

Yet another awful youth intake

No A or B in the preview and no elite talents

We did manage to increase Junior Coaching, so lets hope that improves the standard on the intakes

We managed to combine the league and champions league in a decent way I guess. A third place in the league is good and to reach the play-offs in CL is great. The games against Napoli in the knock-out round was such a heartbreak however. We where dominating in the home game and had a 2-0 lead and out of nowhere they get a goal in the 95th minute and in the away game we were leading 0-2 with 20 minutes left and they somehow get three goals from absolutely nothing to make in to extra time and of course they score immediately and win...

Season 7 - 2030/31

Disappointing season to not improve on last season.

Started well then the dreaded drop off in form October/November time and fall down the table

We did manage our first ever A in the Youth Intake preview

We then got our first ever 2*+ and 4 Elite prospects

No, I play every single match.

These updates are from a number of weeks ago

Due to the fact I spent the last two versions of FM never getting out of the VNLS/N, I don't post updates until I get into a save.

Season 8 - 2031/32

Another poor season

We were just outside playoffs but as the s/s shows, we won ONE from the last 17 games and slipped down the league

Youth intake yet again poor, bar maybe one

First time in 5 years we got into the FA Cup proper

Interestingly, even though we aren't really progressing in the league, the average attendance is going up

South Africa - TS Sporting FC

South Africa Premier Soccer League

2030/31 (season 7)

League Finish: 7th

A bit of a mad season really. We won the first game 9-2, then only won 1 of the next 8, before going away to table toppers Orlando Pirates (with a 100% win record) and won 4-0! By November we were 15th and in the relegation spots - luckily we improved and were much better second half of the season. We won both of our last two games 7-3 to finish 7th overall

Players

I did sell our best player to Porto - I din't think we'd miss him as much as we did to be honest!

Top Scorer: Sanele Bunting 27B - 28 goals in 30 games Still only 19, now rated as a leading premiership player. Still has room for improvement as well!

Player of the Season: Phakamani Molefe 25K - 7.52 AR in 36 games I did not think he would be the best of our first ever youth intake, but there you go! Plays as a pressing forward and has developed really well over the last two seasons. He is why I tend to always sign 2 star PA youths - you never know!

Youth

A nice looking preview and intake! Having exceptional rated youth recruitment definitely helps. Thanks board!

Career

I should be good enough to challenge for the title but I stubbornly refuse to change my ridiculously attacknig tactic. I love those 7-3 games too much!

Nice insight in a HB pairing that seems to work for you. I love the role and what it potentially does to the positioning of the players around him, but I can't seem to get it to work.

Season Summary

Season 2 is in the books and it's a season where we were planted solidly mid-table all season. We were never really in danger of relegation, but we were also never challenging for the playoff spots, which meant I could give playtime to some of the youngsters without too much stress. Overall I'm pleased with how the season went, but I hope we'll be able to at least challenge for the playoffs next season. Our cup runs were quite uneventful. We were knocked out in the 4th Qualifying Round in the FA Cup by Newport and 2nd Round in the FA Trophy by Dartford.

LeagueTable.thumb.png.b2c1afc164efeec6af08ea8c9dbd5749.png

There were some challenges throughout the season. My golden boy striker, Derek Hayward, got his knickers in a twist midway through the season when I decided to trigger the one-year extension clause in his contract. He's been in a mood ever since and his form unfortunately also saw a clear decline. He did pick it up a bit towards the end of the season, but he is still unhappy and refuses to sign any long term contract with us, which means I either have to sell him this summer or let his contract run out next season (if he doesn't change his mind). At the moment I'm leaning towards keeping him for another season, as his valuation of 40K is too low compared to his value for us.

He's also not the only one refusing to sign a contract. Another one of our star players, Anthony Jeffrey, is also not keen on staying, and his contract is running out this summer. I am however not as bothered with Jeffrey not extending, as he is injury prone and been on the decline for two seasons now. I'm hopeful the forwards from our 2024/25 youth intake can replicate his output, if not surpass it, but in an ideal world he would be with us for another season.

Another challenge I had to face this season was when my captain, Michael Chambers, decided to nuke the locker-room atmosphere, when he came to me and complained about the lack of depth at the goalkeeper position. I tried my best to diffuse the situation, but Michael wasn't having any of it... I know our goalkeepers suck Michael, but I'm waiting for a good one to come through the youth intake goddamnit!

202526-StatLeaders-Screenshot.thumb.png.dd7acf621670dfc19837ec843422609f.png

Danny Mills was once again our star performer, getting himself the Golden Boot and Player of The Year in the league after netting 33 goals and providing 6 assists (36 goals and 7 assists in all competitions). He's getting up there in age, but he is still with us for next season. Hopefully he has one more great season in him!

Derek Hayward, despite his antics, also had a decent season, grabbing himself 16 goals and 4 assists in all competitions. He's still continually getting call-ups to the Belgian U19s National Team, so it really would be a shame if he was to leave us.

During the season we got nice progress in the development of 3 of our youngsters from last years intake; Cho Ki-Sung 25-6, Azard Best 25-2 and Diogo Martinho 25-5. They also had decent seasons for the first team, where they featured regularly in their respective positions.

DiogoMartinho.thumb.png.44ea108095ddeb9f634fd95fc2a6c3d9.png

Coaching license wise I've managed to get my Continental B license and currently studying for a Continental A. I've also gotten a couple of upgrades to junior coaching and youth recruitment, so once again nice progress on that front. Something I'm a bit nervous about, but hopefully will be a good thing in the long run, is the board announcing plans to build a new stadium. Hopefully it won't completely ruin our finances...

A bit disappointed with this years youth intake, but at least there's a somewhat decent goalkeeper in there in Fred Boakye 26-1. My current goalkeeper, Preston Edwards, who isn't very good to begin with, has decided to retire. Because of this Fred is going into next season as the starting goalkeeper, as the goalkeeper from last years intake, Kingsley Temitope 25-8, is nowhere near good enough. Hopefully we'll see some good development from him, otherwise we're pretty screwed...

FredBoakye.thumb.png.7c1818fb7bae7fcc83dd2809bc15d0fc.png

The one I'm the most excited about initially is Anestis Fortounis 26-4. He should develop quite nicely with his fairly determined personality and 5 star potential ability. He does however play in the same position as of one of out best players, Ade Shokunbi, so I don't know how much gametime he'll see.

AnestisFortounis.thumb.png.6a81b8b595262f9d11666fd36c906984.png

With the others I'm not too excited, but we'll see how they develop. I wasn't overly excited about Cho Ki-Sung from last seasons intake either, but he's been developing quite nicely and is quickly becoming one of my favourites.

are there requirements for custom databases and how many leagues they add? for example if i wanted to do the YAC in New Caledonia, would i be able to if the database i use only has 2 divisions?

Yeah, my tactic works fine, not a super tactic at any rate, but it has been slightly overperforming for me ever since I made it in FM17 with only minor tweaks. The reason I do well is more down to the players I get more than anything else atm.

2 tiers IF the bottom has relegation, 3 tiers if there is no relegation from the lowest one. The custom league also have to be realistic, and as close to real life as possible. So no "reimagining" or "fantasy" versions.

Season 8 (2031/32) That tastes like promotion! Finally time to fix the clubs severe financial damage in the 2. Bundesliga, which offers around 7mil-18mil price money according to placement. This means I can finally stat upgrading my facilities and rec/coaching after an 8 season stalemate.

Olot UE Season Review (31/32)

League:

Year 4 in the Segunda Division ... and we're going up! Zaragoza was in a league of their own, but we were stuck in a fierce batlle with about 8 other teams for the 2nd direct promotion spot. It doesn't feel like we had a great season. Most games were very hard won, often winning 1-0 or 2-1.

Copa del Rey

A very short cup run, as we were knocked out after penalties against Ibiza.

Youth Intake

The intake looks promising, although it would be nice to get a player with a CA above 2 stars for once. The personalities are very disappointing, despite having the same Professional HOYD for years now.

Best XI

Despite finishing 2nd, the average ratings look worse than previous season. Biggest change to the squad is the emergence of Adrian (intake of 29). He's our highest rated player, although his performances are very inconsistent. He wants to move to a bigger squad and has only 1 year left on his contract; I'm hoping the promotion can change his mind.

5 years ago:

Was intake number 3, and looked much worse than it actually was. It gave us the Andorran phenom Loïc Julien, who is one of our better players. 9 players are still at the team:

  • Eugeni Diaz: Has lost his spot as DM this season, but he definitely stil has a future at the club
  • Estanis Puigmal: Started most games, but doesn't show much signs of improvement
  • Pep Pino: Has gone on loan the last 3 seasons. Is a fringe option at best
  • Emili Solivelles: wanted to some more playing time, so sent him on loan. I fear he might already reached his potential
  • Andreu Campeny: Hasn't yet made the jump to the first team and probably never will
  • Loïc Julien: Only had 3,5 stars at the intake; but has 5 stars now. One of the more important players in the squad
  • Genar Garridoleft on a free at the end of his contract
  • Alfred Monclus: was released in his 3rd season
  • Pep Pou: Still a fringe player at the squad
  • Eloi Sanchez Garcia: Still a fringe player at the squad
  • Arnal Huertas: 3rd or 4th GK
  • Armand Salavedra: didn't get a contract
  • Emili Figueras:: didn't get a contract
  • Ricardo: didn't get a contract
  • Modou Jammeh: didn't get a contract
  • Alfred Campabadal: didn't get a contract-

Mauriki FC - Vanuatu - Season 2 - 2021/22 - Vanuatuan Port Vila First Division (Tier 2) - 1st (promoted)

After being promoted last season, our board wanted a top 2 finish. With only 1 going up, they weren't requiring promotion, merely hinting at it.

The second tier contained 8 teams who play each other twice. This means only 14 games throughout the whole season, so this didn't take very long. We were clear favourites by the season preview. However, we drew two of our opening four games. Normally this would be fine, but with only 14 games, this meant we found ourselves 4 points behind the leaders with only 10 games to go. Things picked up from there and we ended up winning most of our remaining games, winning the league fairly comfortably.

With back to back promotions, next season's board objective to avoid relegation and we are 450 - 1 to win the league. So it looks like we've found a ceiling. Luckily the board have been very generous with upgrades and we have already had 3 increases in Junior Coaching and Youth Recruitment. We're getting a lot of 5 star talent through our youth intakes  but most players have low CA. With out low level of training facilities and coaches, it's questionable whether they'll ever see the first team. It will be the youth intakes in the next few years that will hopefully take us to the trophies.

League wise, Tafea from Port Vila are absolutely dominant. They have 9 of the dream XI, and have won back to back titles. They won the OFC Champions League last year, so whilst I think it'll take a while to catch up with them, by the time we are we should be competition in the OFC Champions League. They showed this when they thrashed us in the cup final this year as well.

We still can't offer contracts. Other clubs have been circling around all our players. So far, we've been okay. At the beginning of each season, I've been able to offer contracts until the end of the season. Then after they sign the contract, the contract cool down is ending just before the transfer window opesn so I can repeat this.

Europe here we come!

An amazing season. Once again we started well, but this time we kept our midseason slump to a minimum. We were in the running for fifth place all season but only occupied it on 3 occasions including after the last match day.

We went into that match knowing we had to win and Kayerispor had to drop points. A nerve racking 90 minutes later we had secured our first European cup place of the save.

Ziraat Türkiye Kupası

image.png.b7ed851f1dec126a38aa8c4cc25b4e30.png

We only faced lower league opposition. I sent out the reserve squad against Hatayaspor and they promptly gave up 3 goals. after subbing in 5 first teamers we managed to claw back two goals but a complete comeback was not to be.

Squad

Player of the season: 10. Hikmet Genç 27a

first time award for him and the first that got a average rating of 7 or higher since we play in the top flight. Hikmet had 9 goals and 6 assists over 31 total apearances as well as 5 times Player of the match.

Topscorer: Emre Bağlar.

The young striker was great for us with 12 goals. starting off with sharing duties he quickly became first choice. He was a bit inconsistent but that is to be expected with a 17 year old.

Young player of the season: Adnan Özan 30h

for the second year in a row he wins this. He had a great season, and that didn't go unnoticed.

image.png.8681df559706129204712e02bf3b8099.png

1st 2 on the nextGen list!

I imagine it will be difficult to keep both around next season.

Youth Intake

image.thumb.png.607af88fffae19415df7a28eabe9be4e.png

Another slightly disapointing intake. I will once again be searching for a new HoYD. So far I've had none that did good enough to earn a contract extension.

Board

Transfers | Finances

We had three major sells this year.

Berat Bingol wanted to go and his contract was ending so we shopped him around. All in all I'm happy with the 2.5 we got for him.

Furkan Dilek was unhappy about the quallity of the squad and when Napoli came knocking I had to let him go. I managed to squeeze out a deal of 8M.

Lastly, Porto keep sponsoring us by taking Yamac Sahin of our hands. A deal that can earn almost 12M was to good to pass up.

This means our finances are in a good shape. and so the board has accepted my pleas to increase both our junior coaching

image.png.495c18df7cff757628a2fdb7072ca74c.png

as well as our youth recruitment.

image.png.e073b0c3f944de2b9e20c916395d21c6.png

Our costs for the youth setup are rising quick though. I hope Conference league money is good. because we keep living on transfer income.

Next year

I want to build on this year. enjoy our time in Europe, and compete again for that last european spot. It will be a few yearrs yet before I can mix in with the top four. First step to get there will be regular european campaigns

Great update @JAwtunes

I like the player presentations.

@fries how on earth did you accomplished Premier League Football with Dullwich in 10 years?

How did you manage the financial situation during going pro and losing money?

Why have you been this successful in a short time like 10 years?

Why have you been this successful in a short time like 10 years?

First, Dulwich is already a pro team at the beginning, which is a big advantage when you start. It means a much better player development early on. Furthermore, the team is good for the level and thus, I managed to gain a promotion in the first season as I have also seen a few others do with Dulwich here. I don't think it is unfair to state that the difference in difficulty between starting pro or semi-pro is at least 5-10 years.

Second, pure luck with the intake in the first few seasons: When I took over the team I had two great regens, where one is still a starter on my team now, and the other, whom I lost on a free transfer at some point, is now playing in the Championship. In season 2, I got 5 players that were starters when I won promotion to Premier League, and in season 3 I got 3 more players that were starters when I won promotion. That was almost a full team before I entered the football league.

Third, I also hope my experiences with this challenge have significance for the success.

Minebea Mitsumi FC (Japan) - Season 9 - 2032

A very good season overall. This was our comeback season in J1 League after one season in J2. Our team was very hot from the start and we were still 2nd after 22 games. The last third of the season was disapointing though. A lot of injuries, a lack of talent at the GK position and no depth at the central defender position killed us. We lost a lot of games and finished 9th. This is our best place ever (previously 11th in 2028). This is very promising because all my players are very young and will keep improving.

 Youth intake

Very good intake that is providing a talented central defender (Murata 32.2) and the GK (Minami 32.7) that we were desperately waiting for. Those two are added to the first squad immediately. Best player we are getting is a ST (Sonoda 32.1). We have now a lot of very good strikers. My only complaint : yet another small central defender (173cm) while I keep getting 180cm+ offensive midfielder... But this is the best intake I have had in this save.

Finances and facilities

This is going way better thanks to the J1 League TV money. We have only 3M of debt to repay and a 6M balance at the bank. Meaning that we have 0 net debt. In two seasons the debt will be paid in full. Now that we have stable finances we are able to improve facilities at a faster rate. And we invested in Youth Recruitment : 6 > 9 > 12 > 15. This is very good news and explains why our youth intakes has been so good this year.

Squad

Squad is very young but has a lot of potential. Our best player is striker Takano 31.1, at only 17 years old ! He is the first player coming from our youth academy to be selected in the national U19 team (Japan U19). We are very proud ! We don't have any legacy players in the first squad. Old goaldkeeper has been moved to the 2nd team. All players are coming from the club academy. 15 years-old goalkeeper Minami 32.7 will be my starting next season. I don't have any other viable options. GK is our weak spot.

Next season preview

I expect to finish mid-table again next season. I will continue to develop my (very) young players. A little bit scared by our 15 years-old GK though. My goal is to maximize Youth Recruitment to become the best youth academy in the country. I don't pay attention to cups for now.

I‘ve been in VNS for about 27 seasons and thought it was something of a „record“ but you must have been there for longer.

I just could never get into the EFL. Some of the saves lasted 2/3 seasons, some would be 20+ years but couldn't get into the EFL and would eventually be sacked and would start again

Honestly stunned. I worried this season would be more difficult with three teams moving down, and it certainly was. The problem was dropping attainable points, and then morale just plummeted and we never could recover. The team didn't win a match after I was fired and were relegated in last place. I still think completing in Belgium is possible, but it relies on a lot of luck. Going to give the journeyman save some love until I figure out what challenge to try next.
