  1. Austria - 2055/56 - Premier League Wels Say Goodbye to Club Legend with Third title win in a row Yep, Paul Alhaier 40A has gone to Saudi Arabia on a free. Gutted to lose him but what can you do? What a legend though He leaves us with 8 League titles, 1 Europa League title and the Austria Cup three times. He scored 413 goals in 599 games for us as well. So... Champions League. Same as last two seasons:- League stage good, out in quarter finals youth So, here's a thing I've noticed. Whenever I manage to max out my youth facilities to state of the art my intakes turn to toilet Nice to see my affiliates popping up with some players but honestly, what can I do with these two? The only reason I signed them both is their personalities. Both professional! Career
  2. Austria - 2054/55 - Premier League Wels Finish Disappointing Season By Winning The Domestic Double So why disappointing? Well, it's all about the Champions League and we went out in the quarter finals, hammered by Newcastle. And because I took my eye off the ball and my two best players (now 30 and 31) announced they want to explore their options at the end of their contract next year. So, despite running away with the cup and league it ended up being kinda frustrating as i feel as far away from a CL win as I ever have I'm gonna struggle without the top 2. They are 'considering their options' so you never know, they might change their mind. I think I had a player do that once Youth So a good youth intake is more important than ever! and it looks...... ok. An elite talent at this stage is never a bad thing! The flair and determination on Winter makes me think he might make it Career It might be time for another transition season or two.... plus, I'm overdue a wonderkid. Not had one since Mika Dampflin 44A and he's been really disappointing
  3. Austria - 2053/54 - Premier League Great Season For Wels as They Win Their Sixth League Title! League - We were brilliant but almost threw it away! With one game to play we were level on points with Rapid and then only drew our final game. Luckily, Rapid lost there's so we won our sixth title, and first for four seasons! Champions League - But this is where our priorities lie! and we were great, particularly in the league stage where we managed to finish top 8 and automatically qualify for the last 16 round. There we narrowly beat Newcastle (woith a 120th minute winner!) before losing both legs of the quarter final 1-0 against Atletico. Both games could have gone either way Youth A weird intake with one elite talent and no very good talents! Krebs looks like he could be good though.... Career
  4. Austria - 2052/53 - Premier League Transitionary Season Turns into Unexpected Triumph as Wels Win Europa League! Honestly, after having to sell our best player, Fatih Heco 38A, in the summer I was ready to write this season off as a transitionary season and bring through my best looking 4 or 5 youngsters for significant first team action. The Europa League seemed to be the perfect place, because really, who cares? Well..... turns out I do in the end! The youngster did unbelievably well in the league stage It meant we went straight through to the knock out stage, and apart from a little wobble against Juve (we FM'd them in Turin!) we strolled to the final against Sporting Lisbon. The final was the best game I've watched for a long, long time! For the first 18 minutes it was a cagey affair with neither team getting a sniff. Then our centre back Michael Hartl 43C bundled one home from the corner. What happened next was pure Germany-Brazil 2014. Every time we got the ball we scored! we ripped them apart time after time and after 33 minutes it was 5-0 and I was dancing in my living room. We were champions! The form carried over into the league as well. In the championship group stage we went 4 games without a win but then won our last 6 to finish second. The youngsters have me all excited! Players Paul Alhaier 40A - With Heco 38A gone it fell on Alhaier's shoulders to fill the void. In response he had the weirdest season I've ever seen from one of my strikers After the first 21 games of the season he had 35 goals. In the next 21 games he scored once, in the 21st game! it was weird! Adilson Rocha 48G - An amzing season for my two star potential right winger who I only started playing because his attributes were perfect for a winger. This season he got 23 gaols and 36 assists in 53 games and has seen his potential edging up and up and up! Oliver Wunderlich 50A - the pick of the new youth players, and not only because of his superb name. Left winger, so playing in Heco 38A's position, he played 24 games with 11 goals and 7 assists. Average rating not bad either! He also was the only one to make the NXGN list. At number one! Youth Only negative is our best prospect plays MR, a position I haven't used since the late 90s. Hopefully he can be retrained as an AMR Career been three years since I won the league. Can I win it again? And can we repeat our Euopa League success in the champions league?
  5. Austria - 2051/52 - Premier League Almost Perfect First Half of the Season ruined By Terrible Second half of the Season I blame my holiday. At Christmas we were unbeaten and running away with the league, so I closed the laptop and disappeared to the Cote D'Azur for a week. Came back, and we finished the league stage with only 1 win from the last 5. And that form continued in the championship stage as well. Really frustrating! We also lost the first 5 in the Champions League league stage so didn't even make the knockout rounds. Very poor! Players I have a decision to make. Fatih Heco 38A is our best player but is now 30 and has announced he'll leave on a free next season. He is so injury prone though, and our bank balance so bad, that I think I'm going to have to cash in on him. It'll be the end of an era though you can see just how injury prone here. There's 32 matches in the league season, and he's never hit 30 The one success story of the season though was Adilson Rocha 48G - a promising winger but with only 2 star potential. But his attributes were pretty perfect for a winger and when that's the case I always give them a run out. He did really well, and his CA and PA improved as a result. 27 games on the right win with an average rating of 7.25 and 7 goals and 9 assists is pretty, pretty good! i love it when you take a chance in these saves and it pays off Youth really promising preview..... but the intake was elite-free again Best of the lot was this fella Finances Could our season have finished any worse? Apparently yes, as just after it was confirmed that we hadn't qualified for the Champions League the board gave me this message I'd be really surprised if I ever get the chance to improve the youth facilities again... Career So, Heco might be gone and I'm in the Europa League so I think i'll use the new season as a chance to blood some of the new youngsters. I haven't had a wonderkid for years!
  6. Austria - 2050/51 - Premier League Wels finish second in league, win the cup! Losing our second best player Fatih Heco 38A to a broken leg in pre-season really affected us in the league stage as we could not get a run going at all. By the time he came back for the championship group stage Sturm Gratz were just too far ahead for us to catch we did manage to beat them in the cup though! ha! Champions League: We're stuck in the cycle of scraping through the league stage and going out early doors in the knokcout rounds. It was Napoli that did for us this time around. we're just lacking the requisite quality throughout the team really. Youth A really encouraging preview followed by a slightly discouraging intake I think i'm at that stage where an elite intake is as rare as rocking horse poo Career
  7. England is just a slog! I've managed to complete it twice in England but both times by far the most difficult league to get out of was VNN and VNS. At least ten seasons bumping around before something clicked. Once you do get out the rest of it seems like a cakewalk! Sometimes it's just a lucky cup run that gets you money to upgrade the youth facilities. One level of youth recruitment can make a huge difference to your intakes down there. 2 or 3 levels can get you an entire intake better than your first team! It might also help prioritising pace/acceleration over other attributes as down there the match engine seems to favour that over anything else.
  8. I got sacked the day before a play-off final because of that bug. I'm still fuming about it now. 10 seasons wasted for that!
  9. Austria - 2049/50 - Premier league Wels Assert Their Dominance by Winning Domestic League and Cup Double! Get in! traditionally i'm useless at domestic cuop competitions in these saves for some reason, but this year we managed to do it. Albeit on penalties against Sturm Gratz. The league followed the same pattern as last year. We were ok in the league stage, but imperious in the championship group stage, and that's where it really matters That makes it 5 out of the last 6 for us now. Austria is ours! Champions League: Shame we can't sasy the same about Europe! we've still a long way to go. Only two wins and a draw in the league stage saw us go out by 1 point. Youth The only worrying sign on the horizon is our last few youth intakes. They've just not been the same quality as some we were getting 10-15 years ago. Without those intakes, we can't keep up this dominance! This years was ok, but really awful personalities. So i sacked my HoYD and got a Model Citizen instead We haven't had anybody in the NXGN top 50 for a couple of years now, and nothing in the European Golden boy list either worrying times! Career
  10. Austria - 2047/48 - Premier League Wels Show it's not how you start a season, but how you finish it! League: We really struggled this season. It didn't help that during pre-season we picked up injuries to our best two players and kept on picking up; injuries. We couldn't play the same team twice and struggled to get into any sort of rhythm. We even managed to lose to Grazer, for their only victory of the season, as well as losing twice to FAC Wien. It was really frustrating! But when you get to the championship group stage everyone gets their points totalled halved, and with ten games still to play, it means everyone still has a chance. And we were finally getting a fully fit first choice XI, so I was optimistic we could make a good go of it. And we did! In the entire Championship group stage we didn't lose once to clinch an unlikely but in the end deserved title! Champions League: Drew a lot of the league stage but got through with two wins, beat Galatassary in the first knockout round only to get hammered by Newcastle in the next round. 7-1 over the two legs! Youth First time in the last three FMs that i've managed to max out youth facilities at a club so I was excited to see what the third best youth recruitment in the world would throw up. Except.....the preview was one of the worst I've ever got! So even before the intake I'd written this year off completely. So I was actually pleasantly surprised that I got three top talents - probably not future superstars but possibly good squad players and always worth signing up. What kind of intake would a preview full of A grades get me?? Gergo Kiss comes from my Romanian affiliate club! I love affiliate clubs that give me random youths now and then Career
  11. Austria - 2047/48 - Premier League Wels Win 3rd League Title, Make Champions League Last 16 League: We were great again, absolutely dominating the league stage. But once you get to the championship group stage your points are halved so it;s never a forgone conclusion. And to be honest, we pretty much just held on to win by a point! Champions League: The big one! We were much better, competing really well in the league stage. The last 16 we got Inter who compeltely outclassed us. We've still got a way to go! players Our best two players, both strikers 9n my 4-3-3 formation:- Paul Alhaier 40A - really fast and skillful striker, no idea how he hasn't played more than 4 times for Austria Fatih Heco 38A - Our most consistent goalscorer, 63 bosnia caps to his name, another fast striker with great finishing and composure to boot. One of my favourite players The Third of my front 3 is Mika Dampfling 44A, winner of the NXGN top 50. He's not quite as good as the other two just yet but hopefully will be Youth ooo, a youth preview with two A grades! The intake was ok, at this stage any elite talents are really good! Badzinski looks the best prospect. Nice personality, good starting technicals, ok determination. Physicals are the only issue Career
  12. Austria - 2046/47 - Premier League Wels Stumble at Final Hurdle, finish second in League Another great season for us, we steamrollered the league stage. In the Championship Group stage though injuries and tiredness took their toll and we just couldn't quite stay the pace. But another good season! Champions League: Another good run. We made it through the league stage only to stumble at the first knock out round against RB Liepzig Players So we got another wonderkid! which is nice! Youth Not a hugley exciting preview and intake. But these days a 3 star CA is a leading premier league player, so who knows? Career
  13. Only fourth best at the minute! Hopefully best next season! i've never managed to even get in the top 10 before so it's quite exciting!
  14. Austria - 2045/46 - Premier League Small Tactical Tweak Leads to Wels Winning League At a Canter! So after winning the league alst season I decided a tactical tweak was needed. I didn't do much, just moved my wingers up to so my 4231 became an attacking 433. It worked far better than I could have imagined leading to some crazy high scoring games. Fourth game of the season we went to RB Salzburg and won 6-3. It was great! We won the league with 3 games of the championship stage left. Lovely stuff! Champions League: We had a good run, getting through the league stage for the first time. The knock out stage was against Spurs and after winning the first leg 3-1 we were 1-0 up at half time in the second. But 3 second half goals from Spurs sent it to extra time where they won it. Bah... Players Here's the all conquering crazy attacking tactic we used. Played to the strengths of our front players And our two star players Youth So another mediocre looking preview and intake, despite assurances it was a potential 'golden generation'. Really? All a little bit disappointing for a club with apparently the fourth best youth set up in the world! But with any luck that will change next season. As a reward for winning the league i was given the opportunity to ask for youth facility improvements...... and:- Career
  15. Austria - 2044/45 - Premier League Wels Perform Solidly Throughout the Season, End Up Accidentally Winning The League! League: Somehow, we won the league in one of the weirdest wins I've ever had! we were fine throughout the season, but consistently 3rd or 4th. We just couldn't get that run together that gets you top. In the Championship Group we started 5 points behind Salzburg, so with a good run of results we could easily catch up. We lost the first game, then kept drawing, and were 5th halfway through and I started panicking that we'd miss out on European football. With 3 games to play Salzburg were 7 points clear at the top. And then the weirdest thing happened...... we won our final 3 and Salzburg lost their final 3! And somehow, when there were no games left to play, we were sitting at the top! for the first time all season! And the best thing? We won that final game of the season with a 90+4 minute goal!! European Conference League: We had fun in the conference league as well, which helped. We cantered all the way through to the quarter final, where we met Aberdeen. Having beaten Rangers 7-1 last season I admit to complete complacency thinking we'd breeze through. They battered us 3-0 in the second leg! Players Two wonderkids in the NXGN top 50! Hoffman is no surprise but Jurkic is a pleasant surprise. A natural at left wing and right back (!) he's a really handy squad option! Youth A poor youth preview and an OK intake With that preview I was happy to even get one elite talent! Career
  16. yep, you got it! I almost tagged you into that Rangers result......
  17. Austria - 2043/44 - Premier League Wels Have Great first Half of Season, Awful Second Half of Season Not entirely sure why but I suspect it might have something to do with my best 4 players' morale all being in the toilet because i wouldn't let them leave. But right up until November we were fantastic and looked like we could really challenge for the title. We slipped up in November and never really recovered, and our Championship Group results were pretty much disastrous. In the end we had to rely on narrowly beating SCR Altach (who we beat 9-1 in October!) in the European play-off to make the conference league Champions League: We couldn't do worse than last season could we? Well, no because this time around we qualified for the league stage! Once there were rubbish though and were already out when we went to whatever that soulless ground Man City play at these days is called and won! So good for the experience and money but not much else sadly. The rangers result was a bit of a doozy!! Players We got two more wonderkids! Paul Alhaier 40A: Not a total surprise as he was 3* CA at 15, but this season the number 1 striker spot was his. He was ok, inconsistent, sulked all season because he wanted to leave for a club with a stronger squad but still managed 27 goals and to make his full international debut. i still have him signed up for 6 seasons so hopefully he'll stop whining and crying soon. Simon Hoffman 41A: an amazing attacking midfielder who i play AMC. He looks like he could be the real deal as well. Chilled out towards the end of the season so I got him locked down into a 7 year contract with no release fee! Nedim Basic 40F - weird one this. I only really signed him as a youth due to his professional personality, he only ever had 3* potential and was by a long way the third choice right winger. So he spent all season coming on as an impact sub, which it turns out is enough to get you in the NXGN list! Youth So my board have had working towards becoming the best youth system in the world for a while now, which is positive. Except I keep getting these messages But they never give me the option to increase the youth facilities to develop the best youth system! And then the cycle continues! it's very frustrating, we have the money and everything Anyway, here's the preview and intake this season Only one elite again but I think that's a reflection of how good the first team. The U18s are still doing quite well, look:- UEFA Youth League Champions 2043/44! Career
  18. I didn't read this far before posting above! Honestly, if I had that option I would have taken it like a shot. I was really enjoying my save as well and as far as i can see it's a bizarre bug that unfairly punishes us II think I was sacked after winning the Cup or something) so I would have no problem with reloading and not making the promise It sucks, but it sucks far less than having the save ruined cos of a stupid bug (that they are aware about!) edit: just checked - they sacked me 2 days before a play-off final! two 17 year olds had played 35+ games that season!
  19. I did this with my Cowdenbeath save and they sacked me at the end of the season. I think the promise is bugged am my entire team was under 21, 3 of them were 17 and in their first season. It was really frustrating! Hopefully it works out for you - let us know!
  20. Austria - 2042/43 - Premier League Wels Embark on Very First Champions League Journey - It Isn't A Long One yeah! into the Champions League we went! Champions League: And out we went at the very first stage. Benfica was a tough draw though Europa League: It sent us straight into the Europa League, where we did a lot better. Some really good results here but to go out to fellow Austrains Sturm Gratz was disappointing League: We did really well again and are turning into genuine title challengers. We fell slightly short again but qualified for the Champions League again. Players We were helped by the emergence of two more genuine wonderkids Leon Eschweiler 39B - This was a really nice surprise, as he would probably have been long gone if I'd kept Stefan Wifling. But when he went to Arsenal a vacancy appeared in our central midfield and Eschweiler filled it and did really, really well. Now easily our best and most important midfielder. Paul Alhaier 40A - I knew he was going to be good so I gave him his chance as first choice striker at the start of the season and it paid off handsomely. 23 goals in 36 games is not at all bad and he can only keep getting better. The only issue will be keeping him in years to come Career
  21. he had two years left, but even so it's still a good deal i reckon. With only one year left i'd probably have accepted anything! Salzburg imploded about 4 seasons ago and are suddenly completely awful. It's really weird! I used to dread meeting them but now I love it!
  22. Austria - 2041/42 - Premier League Wels Lose Best Player in £68m Transfer, Have Best Season and Qualify for Champions League! So, yeah, during summer Arsenal came and offered a measly £35m for Stefan Wifling, so I thought I'd call their bluff. I asked for £54m rising to £68m plus 50% future sell on fee. They accepted and the chairman took the decision out of my hands! tbf, it was too good to turn down. I think Arsenal still got a bargain though So we headed into the new season without our best player and with two of our other best players sulking as I turned down offers for them from big clubs. I focussed on those with good morale who actually wanted to play for us and it paid off. (Jake Barrett 37A only played 12 games for us all season) The lack of European games and going out the cup early meant the players were always rested before every game and always at 100% fitness and it made such a difference. Usually in the championship group we are dead on our feet with nobody in the squad on 100% condition but here we were up for it, winning 6 to take second and Champions League football next season Players One player who sulked I did play, as he was too good not to. Fatih Heco 38A is a wonderkid and even with morale in the toilet he was top scorer with 21 goals from 28 games, all on the left wing. I still have him for 5 years so hopefully he'll stop sulking at some point so I can tie him down even longer. Youth Career
  23. there is something! if you offer a contract and they have a locked in minimum release fee just walk away then, the next day, go to contract on the player and it has the option to 'resolve contract talks with agent' or something. then you tell the agent their inflexibility scuppered the deal and more often than not they back down and when you re-open contract talks the release fee isn't locked in doesn't work all the time but more often than not i've found.
  24. Austria - 2039/40 - Premier League Disastrous End to Season See Wels Miss Out on European Football! Really upsetting end! We were in good form going into the Championship group but once there we went 8 games without a victory and by the time we finally won a game, it was too late. We missed out on European qualification! part of the problem was how tired the players were and how many games were being thrown at us. at one point we had to play 4 games in a week - something had to give! Europa League What makes it such a depressing end to the season is just how good we were in the Europa League this season. We finished the league stage above clubs like Arsenal! Here are our results - Spurs were just too good for us in the end Players Well, no European football makes it invevitable we'll lose Stefan Wifling 36A. The lad still won't sign a new contract and he's only got two years left to run. I can't afford to let him leave on a free so realistically it's 1 year. He is so important - he was injured for a month which coincided with our awful Championship Group run of results. I mean - look how good he is! But we do have people waiting in the wings, including our second WONDERKID! Fatih Heco 38A, our Bosnian left winger had a great season and also signed a new very, very long contract. Woohoo He was also second in the wonderkid NGN list Jake Barrett 37A also won European Golden Boy, which is funny as i'm really not convinced by him yet! he mostly plays up front but is just as good on the wing - he is very, very quick. Pace 17 Finances So, the board got an offer for our Hungarian potential superstar Tamas Horgosi 36B Nothing we could do about it either! the deal is ok, i guess, and it meant we could invest in facilities Youth Youth preview looked really quite good but the intake only had one elite talent! but what a talent! Career
  25. Austria - 2039/40 - Premier League Consolidation in the top 6, another fun run in Europe! League: Kinda frustrating in some ways. We did well but every time we looked like we could push into the top 3 and really challenge we'd lose a couple of games and slip back down. A 6th placed finish saw us again in the Championship Stage, where i thought we were fairly mediocre to be honest, only winning 3 out of 10. But two teams were worse and we ended up 4th and in the Europa League. Jurassic Park! Europa Conference League: So much fun! we were great, right up until we went out on penalties. It meant we hada crazy number of games this season, at one point playing 4 in 8 days. Players I don't think I've ever had this before. Top 3 on the NXGN list are all ours! Stefan Wifling 36A: Superstar! Won this this season:- He refuses to sign a new contract though, which runs out in 3 years. As he's worth £40-50m I'll have to sell him in two years if I can't persuade him to sign Tamas Horgosi 36B - Striker and top scorer last season, moved mainly into midfield this season. He's equally adept in both positions, but i think midfield is his future. has a brand new 8 year (5+3) contract! Jake Barrett 37A - my English striker/right winger. Started the season, rested for a game, kicked up a stink about not getting enough games! so, to please him, i gave him an extended run in the team. Basically, i din't want to lose him and panicked! he was only 17 and acting like he was Jude Bellingham! Simon de Neef 37B - I usually promote my best 2 or 3 17 year olds to the first team squad each season, give them a couple of cup games here and there and slowly integrate them. That was the plan anyway - de Neef played 47 games at right wing! I suspect he'll be higher up this list next season Youth mediocre preview really. and the intake only produced 3 elite talents. But one of those talents looks crazy! look at him! Career
