  1. Austria - 2039/40 - Premier League Disastrous End to Season See Wels Miss Out on European Football! Really upsetting end! We were in good form going into the Championship group but once there we went 8 games without a victory and by the time we finally won a game, it was too late. We missed out on European qualification! part of the problem was how tired the players were and how many games were being thrown at us. at one point we had to play 4 games in a week - something had to give! Europa League What makes it such a depressing end to the season is just how good we were in the Europa League this season. We finished the league stage above clubs like Arsenal! Here are our results - Spurs were just too good for us in the end Players Well, no European football makes it invevitable we'll lose Stefan Wifling 36A. The lad still won't sign a new contract and he's only got two years left to run. I can't afford to let him leave on a free so realistically it's 1 year. He is so important - he was injured for a month which coincided with our awful Championship Group run of results. I mean - look how good he is! But we do have people waiting in the wings, including our second WONDERKID! Fatih Heco 38A, our Bosnian left winger had a great season and also signed a new very, very long contract. Woohoo He was also second in the wonderkid NGN list Jake Barrett 37A also won European Golden Boy, which is funny as i'm really not convinced by him yet! he mostly plays up front but is just as good on the wing - he is very, very quick. Pace 17 Finances So, the board got an offer for our Hungarian potential superstar Tamas Horgosi 36B Nothing we could do about it either! the deal is ok, i guess, and it meant we could invest in facilities Youth Youth preview looked really quite good but the intake only had one elite talent! but what a talent! Career
  2. Austria - 2039/40 - Premier League Consolidation in the top 6, another fun run in Europe! League: Kinda frustrating in some ways. We did well but every time we looked like we could push into the top 3 and really challenge we'd lose a couple of games and slip back down. A 6th placed finish saw us again in the Championship Stage, where i thought we were fairly mediocre to be honest, only winning 3 out of 10. But two teams were worse and we ended up 4th and in the Europa League. Jurassic Park! Europa Conference League: So much fun! we were great, right up until we went out on penalties. It meant we hada crazy number of games this season, at one point playing 4 in 8 days. Players I don't think I've ever had this before. Top 3 on the NXGN list are all ours! Stefan Wifling 36A: Superstar! Won this this season:- He refuses to sign a new contract though, which runs out in 3 years. As he's worth £40-50m I'll have to sell him in two years if I can't persuade him to sign Tamas Horgosi 36B - Striker and top scorer last season, moved mainly into midfield this season. He's equally adept in both positions, but i think midfield is his future. has a brand new 8 year (5+3) contract! Jake Barrett 37A - my English striker/right winger. Started the season, rested for a game, kicked up a stink about not getting enough games! so, to please him, i gave him an extended run in the team. Basically, i din't want to lose him and panicked! he was only 17 and acting like he was Jude Bellingham! Simon de Neef 37B - I usually promote my best 2 or 3 17 year olds to the first team squad each season, give them a couple of cup games here and there and slowly integrate them. That was the plan anyway - de Neef played 47 games at right wing! I suspect he'll be higher up this list next season Youth mediocre preview really. and the intake only produced 3 elite talents. But one of those talents looks crazy! look at him! Career
  3. Austria - 2038/39 - Premier League Wels Have Fun in Europe, Qualify Again By Skin of their Teeth! So yeah, europe was fun but it didn't half stretch our already paper thin young squad. As a result, we suffered a little bit in the league League: Although we were easily in the top half of the season, we pretty much spent it all in 6th. once in the championship Group it didn't really improve either and we wended up sixth, having to go into a play-off with the team top of the relegation group to see who headed into Europe next season Europe: Europa League baby! we had to work hard to qualify for the league stage but we did it! And it was hard going once we were the but we made it through, in 21st place! That's a lot of games, and a lot of experience, for my youngsters. It's all good! Players Stefan Wifling 36A: our first ever bone fide proper WONDERKID! He is amazing and with 4 years left on his contract he'll be ours for a while yet. But I think eventually we'll have to sell him. He already wants to leave! Lars Schroder 35A: Our second Austrian international after Wifling. A bit of a surprise as, despite how good he is, he's getting left behind by the kids coming up behind him, some of whom are really, really nice. Weird to think but he might not start the new season in our first XI Youth Best preview yet which is a lovely touch And then the intake came in... SEVEN ELITE TALENTS! but better than that, check out these personalities! easily my best intake in terms of personalities i think None of the seven stood out in terms of their starting attributes, but with those personalites i'm ok with that! Career
  4. Austria - 2037/38 - Premier League Wels Consolidate Position in Top 6 in Austria, Have Fun in Europe League: Slightly frustrating at first as we just couldn't get going and bounced around mid-table, which could have sent us back t the relegation group. We were consistent enough to just make in into the Championship Group. Even there it was tough going again, with only three victories out of our ten games. But thanks to results elsewhere those 3 victories managed to push us up to fourth and European qualification for the second season running. Woohoo! (You lose half your points in the Championship Group) Europe: Europa League How exciting! We had to go through the qualification stage where we played Servette of Switzerland Oops. So, on to.... Europe: Europa Conference League This was more our level! I used the games to give much needed first team experience to my most promising youth players Players So who are our best players these days? Well.... Stefan Wifling 36A Easily our best and most promising youth. Still only 17 and already capped at senior level for Austria. Tends to play AMC but is also really handy as a DLP. Still has bucketloads of potential to fill and he made the NXGN list too Florian Ahr 35B One of those who started as a reserve and then forced his way into the first team. He was reserve AMC filling in for Wifling and did so well that I gave him games at AML and MC. That kind of utlitiy player can be a godsend in these saves. I think AMC is his best position but he may have to settle for somewhere else Lars Schroder 35A Still only 18 and a natural in 3 positions. He tends to play MC, just because i lack numbers there. He'll probably stay there but having that kind of flexilbility is really nice Tamas Horgosi 36B Nice surprise this, and again with some invaluable flexibility. He's clearly a better striker but can also play MC, and filled in there for a few games. He'll start as first choice striker in the new season Youth Not a bad preview, but not a great one either And yet, whisper it, a possible golden generation! but with only 3 elite talents Best fella in terms of attributes and personality is this fella. Another striker! Career
  5. Austria - 36/37 - Premier League Finally! Wels have a good season in the Premier League and Qualify for Europe! Yep, we finally did it! A season away from a relegation battle! Our team is potentially very strong and an extra years experience seemed to make all the difference. We were nowhere near title-challenging form but we consistently hovered around 4/5th spot. We went in the championship with a real chance but struggled a little more when we got there. Still, a 5th placed finish isn't too shabby and it puts us on a European adventure next year! Youth We're very close to having the best youth set up in the country so hopefully we'll see that reflected in the intakes. This years was a good start! The preview wasn't anything to write home about But the intake was hugely impressive. The switch to a professional HoYD really seems to have paid off with some cracking personalities coming through SIX elite talents is pretty, pretty good! Jake Barrett 37A looks the best. I tend to rate my intake on personality above all else, just because it seems to be the best indicator of who will make it or not He might switch to a winger/inside forward. I haven't decided yet! Career
  6. Austria - 2035/36 - Premier League Appalling First Half, Good Second Half, Wels Survive Again! Two games into the season and I thought we'd finally turned a corner! But then we followed that up with this run.... Which continued until the final game of the league stage! It meant we headed into the relegation group like this But once we got to the relegation phase? Our form turned into this! So, we survived comfortably after spending a lot of the season at the bottom of the table. Youth We're almost maxed out now so our intakes should be good. And they are! not many green grades there..... but it didn't seem to matter The best by far seem to be Stefan Wifling 36A, who looks like he could be the real deal So we now have a ludicrous number of high potential youth players. i just need some to turn into good players! Career
  7. that's true, but with 3 games to go it was only 2 points and we were in awful form. it felt like a relegation fight then!
  8. Austria - 2034/35 - Premier League Wels Again narrowly Avoid relegation Honestly, we are so lucky the Austrian Premier League is only 12 teams big with only 1 relegation, as we are still terrible! Although we did have a good run around christmas to give us a respectable league stage finish, the relegation stage halves your points so after a bad start there we were hovering 1 point above relegation. We managed to get a couple of wins under our belt to keep our head above water but honestly, it feel like it's only a matter of time before we go down at this rate Part of the problem is our youth set up costs so much we have to sell our best players at the end of each season, which will be the case until we can get into Europe. Which feels a long way off atm! Youth so our set up now is ridiculously good and ridiculously expensive. So what can it deliver? An A, a B, a few Cs is ok.... Looks ok, a mixed bag of personalities, but a few nice high potentials The clear stand out is Lars Schroder. The only worry is he demanded a minimum release clause from the very start! Players Not an official wonderkid but another entry in the NxGN top 50 list. at number 2 now! He's pretty good but it was a surprise to even see him in the list, let alone so high Career We need something to change....
  9. Austria - 2033/34 - Premier Division Another Poor Season From Wels Sees Them Narrowly Avoid Relegation Again! We are so lucky that only one team gets relegated from the premier League! Honestly, we were atrocious again and only survived by the skin of our teeth again. We need to improve quickly or our luck is bound to run out Weirdly, we did make it all the way to the semi-final of the cup though. Players We got our first entry into the NxGN top 50 list! Albeit number 50, but still! He's not a bad centre back We also had to sell our balding potential superstar. When Napoli come knocking, what can you do? It's a lot of money so I invested as much as i can! Youth a nice preview and a really nice intake! just as well, as we're losing a tonne of money on these crazy facilities Career
  10. Austria - 2032/33 - Premier League Wels Survive Terrible Run To Stay Up Again..... just! Yeah, it was close. This was the first season where our entire team was youth with no legacy players so our average age was ridiculously low. And we struggled a wee bit! In the league section we actually did ok, finishing 8th, but in the relegation group we put ourselves in real trouble by only winning once. A worrying ending to the season really, especially as we've had 3 seasons in the Premier League now and been progressively worse each season! Players We have two class players, and they both really want to leave! Luboš Dvořák 28A - absolute class. Played mostly right wing this season and still finished top scorer. Wants to leave for a stronger squad but I have him on a 4 year contract. Ha! Carlo Bögl 26A - Took me a bit by surprise this one as he was very average for a long time and then just exploded in the last two seasons. Very, very quick, which is all you really need apparently! Club captain and really wants to leave as well! Youth Very nice preview! the intake didn't quite match it tbh best player is this young whippersnapper Career
  11. Austria - 2031/32 - Premier League Wels Recover From Terrible Start to Stay Up Premier League in Austria is not like England! Finances are a real struggle so I felt forced into selling my berst player before the season started. at least this way I can control the sale andget the best deal. And £5m + 50% for Damian Delura was a good deal, and hopefully keep the board away from selling our best players for silly prices. So much for that! a week after Delura went the board made this announcement about my second best midfielder So I headed into the new season without my two best middies! and we had a difficult start as well, losing the first 4, so morale was low and we really struggled to throw it off Only 3 victories in the league stage! One was away at Salzburg though, which was nuts. So into the relegation group, with half the points, meaning we were only two points off last spot. But a great start, with 3 wins from our first 4, lifted us into relative safety. We finished poorly but managed to keep our heads above water for another season Youth At least with all that transfer money it meant i could do some more investing in youth facilities So another promising youth preview and a pretty good intake Having a cracking goalkeeper is never a bad thing in a save like this! Career
  12. Austria - 2030/31 - Premier League Brilliant first season in premier league as Wels make Championship Group and stay up! We did so much better than I thought we would! We started with 2 wins, went top, and although we couldn't quite maintain that we kept on getting results. When it came to the end of the league stage we were 6th, meaning we qualified for the Championship Group (where the top 6 all play each other again twice) the only issue? every single one of our victories had come against sides in the relegation group! the championship group was gonna be tough... and it was! we only won one more to finish bottom of the championship group, but it didn't matter. we finished 6th! Players Damian Delura 29A - a quiet season for our 17 year old future superstar. Only 10 goals and 4 assists from him in 28 games, but at his age and with the step up to Premier league it's not too bad. He asked to leave to play with better players at the end of the season and I said ok, if i get a bid of 5.75m. I could do with the money tbh! Lubos Dvorak 28A - looks like he might be the solution to our striker problem. Our top scorers for the last few years have been our wingers while our strikers can't hit a cow's arse with a banjo. But now, with 15 in 23 games, we might have a solution Youth Another nice looking preview - only one A but a plethora of Cs, which can always turn up some good looking youth prospects The intake was ok with a nice amount of elite talents, although they mostly had poor determination and personalities. Except one.... Finances the board were disappointed in me not getting us the best youth system in the country already, so i asked them to put their money where their mouth is. Theu y did, with the consequence that we have no money now! Career
  13. yeah, i love that! i want to give one a massive handlebar moustache next!
  14. Austria - 2029/30 - division 1 Brilliant start lead Wels to amazing title triumph! Unbelievably, we won the league! We started poorly, with an opening day defeat, but after that we went unbeaten for the next 15 to head into the winter break top of the league. Coming out of the break we won 6 on the bounce to go 6 points clear at the top. We were so far ahead we could afford to not win any of our final 5 games and still come out on top, albeit by the slimmest of margins. So, premier league football next season! Players Patrick Plojer - Legacy player, now 29, left winger who stepped right up this season. 19 goals and 15 assists from 34 games is pretty, pretty good! Lennart Muller 25B - right winger, now 20, slightly underwhelming season with 7 goals and 10 assists but still looking an important player Damian Delura 29A - Played him AMC from match 1, when he was still only 15. He was brilliant! 15 goals, 8 assists, 7.31 AR from 32 games. And only 16 years old! Youth Always nice to see some A grades in the youth preview! and the intake looked pretty good 5 elite talents! this fella looks the best:- Career So we'll be favourites to go straight back down next season so I'll be over the moon if we finish 11th
  15. Austria - 2028/29 - Division 1 Good Run At End Give Wels Surprising 3rd place finish! yeah, it was an odd season. bouncing around mid-table before Christmas and then turning on the style after Christmas. But it was too little too late as we fell just short of promotion. No play-offs in Austria, and it doesn't matter that FC Liefering can't get promoted due to being Salzburg's baby team either! Players Top scorer, top assistmaker, top average rating all went to Lennart Muller 25B. He's quickly becoming our most important player - just shows how much this game engine overrates pace tbh! Youth a nice preview and an even nicer intake! An A and 2 Bs is a lovely sight! but what does that turn into? So the obvious standout by far is Damian Delura 29A! whatever happens, i'm getting a sell on percentage for that lad! he looks so good at 15... only 5'7 but he's still growing. by the end of the season he was 5'8! and 20 flair is very exciting..... that personality does mean I probably won't be able to hold on to him for long though. Finances It's been said before by people playing in Austria but its worth saying again - it's ideal for this challenge! Career
  16. Austria - 2027/28 - Division 1 Wels subject to takeover, made a professional club and finish in mid-table Another season where we made far more progress off the field than on it, which is fine as it will all pay off one day! We were again mid-table from day 1 and the most exciting thing was when we were subject to a takeover halfway through the season and the new owners first move was to make us a professional club. Very nice! youth Usually I choose my HoYD based purely on personality. But after hitting exceptional youth recruitment I was really disappointed so when i saw this fella avaliable, i snapped him up, balanced personality be damned But I was a little disappointed by the preview. One A grade and a C grade didn't bode well So i was pretty surprised when the intake came in to see 6 elite talents in there! obviously personalities aren't great but still, it's easily our best intake yet Career Slow imporvements off the field - will we see a similar improvement on the field? Next season will be the first one where youth will outnumber legacy in the first team so it will be interesting to see
  17. Austria - 2-26/27 - Division 1 Another Solid Season in Division 1 as Wels Finish Creditable 5th Yep, not a bad season all round, although our finish was helped by winning our last 5 on the bounce. in truth we were never good enough for promotion and never bad enough for relegation. For the future it's just a case of how seamlessly we can replace legacy players with the youth players Players Our first breakthrough youth player! Lennart Müller 25B was thrown in at right wing more out of desperation than anything but he was brilliant. The only reason being his pace obviously, but it makes a huge difference at this level! Youth So I was looking forward to this with an exceptional youth recruitment, so you can imagine my disappointment at the preview. All rubbish! But when the intake came in it actually wasn't that bad. A terrible preview with exceptional recruitment at this level can still give you 3 elite talents! lovely stuff! I'm really low on defenders so there's more than a good chance we'll see those three elites in the first team sooner rather than later. Career A good start so far!
  18. Austria - 2025/26 - Division 1 Fantastic Season On and Off the Pitch as Wels launch Unlikely Promotion Bid! yep, we were right up there! at one stage, in October, we even went top! We couldn't sustain that form and slowly dropped away but even so, it was a really promising season Finances So why was it such a good season off the pitch? Because the board gave us youth recruitment improvements three times, letting us max it out already! get in! Very excited for next seasons intake now! Youth This seasons intake though was.... ok I guess? preview gave us two A grades which was exciting but the intake only gave us 3 elite talents so.... Career
  19. Austria - 24/25 - Division 1 Nice dull mid-table season to start Austrian adventure So Greece didn't work out - a first team squad of 13 players and no keepers saw to that, (plus I was worried that the players names wouldn't fit on my spreadheet) - so I decided instead to head to Austria, as I've always enjoyed people's saves there. It always looked quite fun! So I took over at SPG Wels who had a decent squad, a decent bank balance and a decent starting facilities. Nice! We were mid-table pretty much from game 1 which was fine with me! Youth An early youth recruitment upgrade was very nice! The youth preview was very poor though.... so to get an elite talent was a nice surprise But I definitely need better in the next few years if we're going to improve Career
  20. ooo, i've never done Greece! good call! right, i'm off to Greece next!
  21. I've posted on bug forum. I'm starting to come around to the idea that it's typical of my idiot chairman and that maybe he didn't take too kindly to my constant undermining of his very existence. A bit of research has shown i'm not the only one who's been done by bizarre promises like this either.
  22. yeah, i'm way too addicted not too! Hardest thing is always choosing where to go next
  23. Just to piggy back on to this thread, I've been doing a youth only save and just been sacked for not giving any youth players any meaningful playing time. The promise was a year long, and looked like this with 2 days to go In the length of the promise (a year from May to May) a 16 year old had played 38 first team games, one 17 year old 40 first team games, another 17 year old 33 first team games, an 18 year old 33 first team games, two 19 year olds 35+ games the new intake during the season also played a handful of games (around 10) I'm at a loss as to what the game actually considers 'a youth player' Oh, and the player promise to give youth players a chance in midfield was fully met so surely there's a bug somewhere here?
  24. Ok, so I'm in genuine shock here and don't really know what to do. We were having an amazing season - bottom in October but turning it around and finishing second and making the play offs. We win the semi-final convincingly and then, two days before the play-off final, I get this message:- OK, so....... last summer I asked for a junior coaching budget increase. The board said they weren't sure it was worth it unless i played youth players. I said of course I'll play youth players! and that triggered a promise..... (i try and avoid promises at all costs if I can, but like most of them this one I didn't see coming) So I had a year to 'give meaningful playing time to youth players' I reloaded my last save (only 4 days before the sacking) and here are my stats:- 16 year old with 39 starts. 18 year old with 33 starts, 17 year old with 33 starts, 19 year old with 44 starts, 19 year old with 40 starts, 17 year old with 40 starts. Every single player through the youth academy (including grant, who was so poop I didn't even bother giving a number!) lots of youth players playing there right? so i check the status of the promise and..... What?????? seriously, what????? So what does the game consider a 'youth player' then? And to be sacked for this TWO DAYS BEFORE A PLAY-OFF FINAL is completely absurd, right? i mean, i know none of us play this game for the unfettered realism but COME ON! so there you go. I'm genuinely in shock here!
  25. Scotland - 2033/34 - Cinch League 1 Stupid Chairman Continues to Sabotage Club, Then Threatens Me With Sack! I mean, the temerity!! So summer came, offers came, and our idiotic short-sighted chairman again could not help himself by selling off our better players for as little as possible. I had no room to protest or argue or anything! Then our first stroke of luck! Dall rejected the contract from Falkirk and decided to stay with us! Score! Then came the January window...... and again he was up to his old tricks. This time I had the option to complain, protest and argue! and so I did..... but it made little difference, such is his determination to be a simple minded buffoon. I've never known anything like it! he's giving players away like confetti! Anyway, with all that shenanigans it's not really surprising that we struggled this season, playing half our matches with undeveloped 16 year olds in the side. But we were able to put together enough results to not really get into trouble. Chairman was not impressed and gave me the dreaded improve in a month or your out speech. We did,and i spent all month side-eyeing him. What a gibbon that man is Callum Gordon 31A Watch Just in case any of you thought i was being too harsh on our nincompoop of a chairman this is Callum Gordon now, after he thought a straight up 41k offer with no sell on was an offer 'too good to refuse' AAARGHHHHHH! I HATE MY CHAIRMAN SOOOOOO MUCH!!!!! Youth Although.... to be fair to the lad he did let us use our new found money to improve youth recruitment And the best thing is the preview was rubbish and disappointing but the actual intake was pretty good. So with a good preview we could be up for some stunning intakes. A few too many strikers but a good range of personalities. Pick of the bunch was this little fella:- Career I'm gonna see out this nincompoop of a chairman!
