  1. The latest update has included the February 2023 Club World Cup (actually the 2022 version delayed), but didn't go the extra step and give us this one too: https://www.fifa.com/fifaplus/en/articles/saudi-arabia-to-host-club-world-cup-december-2023 I understand Saudi are rumoured to host another one in December 2024.
  2. CONCACAF usually requires quite a bit of fixing in the editor to get it playable, at least we can get started now that they've done such a helpful update
  3. The international comps are loading fine on the new game screen, I'm just checking to make sure they actually load in the game too though. I'm going through and re-verifying everything anyway
  4. On further review I don't like the looks of the 2023 version in the patch, the history entry looks off and it doesn't include the planned version in December (and next year). This may be because they had issues with the seedings, they went with a "registered teams" to account for the weirdness that put Al-Ahly in the playoff vs. OFC this year. That spot is for the host team, but Wydad Casablanca was also continental champion got bumped up and the continental runner-up dropped down instead. My 7-team version has a durable fix for this over each season. On the plus side the first version should be held in Morocco. I might do a "fixed" rules version where we can dictate hosts and get it in Saudi in December. Give me a bit to verify each version in the new system and they'll be ready to go
  5. Just uploaded a new version verified on the March update (23.4) and with Ronaldo's changes removed (because the patch took care of moving him to Al-Nassr).
  6. You're probably aware but there's also an issue with AI squad registration where if you try to use the auto squad registration dates based on transfer window dates, they don't like it. Need to manually set squad deadlines
  7. Sounds like old school NASL I don't know about those rules but it's an easy change in the editor, just go into "league settings" and further down there's options for the different points (and for penalties after a draw under "match rules" further down). You like those groups of 3? I can't imagine FIFA scaling it back (or scaling anything back, ever) but why not. I might try and change the rules to hard-bake the hosts too. Speaking of which, has anyone started a new default game with the new update yet? Have they done anything with the CWC or still just starting in June 2025 in China? EDIT: Yeah, they've adjusted it based on real life, the 7-team version is back for February 2023 at least. I'm guessing it then goes Dec. 2023, Dec. 2024, then the silly 24 or 32-team format in June. I'll test some more and release a fix for each version this weekend.
  8. Check the flags in my Catalan file or Muratti/Island Games. There are a few different areas you need to point it to with the different "config" files in there
  9. Going to sink my teeth into this later, but any initial thoughts on the update? Any obvious fixes to common issues we normally adjust the PGE? Any big changes? Anything jumping out that will require adjustment in edited DBs?
  10. What happened that you can see? I expect I'll have to make some tweaks to this and other files. The changes are so extensive here it might only be compatible with 22.0 for the time being
  11. That's weird. You haven't done anything with Guam or Northern Marianas or anything have you?
  12. Lol, I'm not sure I've even made it to a league game in FM23 yet, always get sidetracked with editing projects. I accepted a few versions ago that I enjoy the editor more than the game itself and have come to terms with it, even if a lot of the fun is the promise of using the DB in a new game. I think I've finished most of my editing projects for the year though, so will start playing in earnest soon... I usually wait until the last update for North American play anyway (i.e. fix the damn Gold Cup, SI) but might focus on Europe and the Gulf this year
  13. Yea, that's what I mean by newgens, same as regens. Separate from the created players at game start (if you check that box), who only show up as English? No worries, I like hearing this stuff, I hadn't really thought of that because I hardly ever use that setting (mind, you I think in Lionel Messi's thread he might mention it's a bad idea with that file due to the created players having unrealistic wages). But it might be worth me changing the "based nation" back to Jersey, I used to have it that way, I just wasn't sure what other knock-on effects it would have
  14. Here's a revived Copa Interamericana (backup) from 2024, the Final 4 competition which has been mooted - you'll need to run it with one of my Club World Cup files, as I've put it where the CWC used to be in June (but every year). You get winners from the Leagues Cup and CCL, and Copa Lib and Copa Sud (as announced), facing off at a (realistic) top US stadium
  15. OK we gotta change the club's "based nation" for that I think, I was only thinking of newgens. Change their "based nation" to Jersey or I can release a version like that
  16. You can do it with any region, the main steps are to change the "local region(s)" to your new country (I'd recommend Ireland pre-1922 or C.I.S. as they don't have a default language or huge namelist attached). From there: add your second nationality to all existing players (you can search by local region of birth) change your old club's name slightly to avoid confusion, something like "Sevilla (1890)" if you're using Sevilla, then take Bermuda Hogges and copy over all of the information from your old club (I'd suggest manually copying it over, copy and paste works but seems to throw up issues) change the new club's "based nation" to your new nation (e.g. Andalusia), otherwise everything should look the same as the old club take the staff and players from Sevilla and change their contract and "days trained at club" to the new club (which you've renamed from Bermuda Hogges). You'll need to select their staff role from the dropdown box (even if it already says something like "physio", the game will just assign them as a coach if you've mass edited the staff. Same with players all getting full-time contracts unless you manually select "youth" or "part-time" where it already says that) take the old club (Sevilla in this example)'s competitions, reserve team info, etc and give it to the new club. Remove the competitions from the old club once you've changed over all of the staff, affiliations, etc, make the old club Sevilla extinct with their "new club" set as the renamed club. This should take care of any history issues Optional steps: for extra detail you can also change current staff and players' non-playing history, playing history, and favoured clubs (if applicable) if it's a smaller team, you can search people by their non-playing history (this takes ages) and try to change all of that to the new team, same with any competition history (visible in-game). For clubs with lots of documented history, though, this isn't practical take your graphics and change the "config" file in Notepad as described above so that the game assigns Sevilla's logo to the unique ID for Bermuda Hogges use Notepad to edit any Real Name fix-type file you might have to remove any lines referencing Bermuda Hogges in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2023\data\database\db\2300\lnc\all (or whichever version you're using, that link would be 23.3)
  17. Noooo I love the host spot. Lol. It's like a random lottery if you're playing in Holland or Turkey or something and win the league at the right time. But I can work on more custom versions this weekend. I need to make that CONCACAF/CONMEBOL Final 4 tournament starting in 2024, it could also send its winner as a backup, instead of the defending CWC winner... the defending champion getting in is fun, but can lead to teams winning 3 or 4 in a row with some momentum
  18. Yeah it's compatible with his level 10 DB, newgens should come through as dual nationals. They can be called up by Jersey but if they're good enough they'll probably wait for an England call instead. Not sure if Muratti will "cap-tie" them because they're not FIFA. I'm gonna start an unemployed or Jersey Bulls save with his file soon too, so I'll find out. If you use the wider Island Games file instead of Muratti, you also get the Isle of Man and Isle of Wight teams. The Skipton Cup gives you the Guernsey FC vs. Isle of Man FC preseason game too
  19. Give loads of responsibilities to DoF or assman and then switch yourself into that role using an in-game editor. Might actually work
  20. I don't think I saw anything, just realized that I hadn't checked for a while after moving stuff around and suddenly started expecting to see 23.2 there. I think I was remembering the older games though
  21. C.I.S. is used a lot. Maybe Czechoslovakia. Just check their "history" when you load a new game with the new nation enabled so you can see which competitions need editing to change the past winners from Czechoslovakia to Czech Republic I think you'd have to change the continent to Europe for them to get picked up in club qualifying. However, I believe that would only work until the new 2025 format and then it's gonna either not use your country's spots, or boot out the lowest ranked country instead. After that you'd have to rebuild the Euro club comps for it to work perfectly (someone else can correct me on this if I'm wrong). Also changing it to Europe will have the knock-on effect of the national team being "clickable" and calling up players for friendlies, but they'll only play in UEFA U21 qualifying without rebuilding other tournaments
  22. Moved some files around so that graphics, saved games, etc were on a different drive. Now, though, I can't find the 23.2 update: I think it's meant to show up there? But In fact I don't even see it in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Football Manager 2023\data\database\db now either: I know it's updated the match engine: This is doing my head in, I've verified local files, reinstalled the game, etc. Do I need to put everything back on the C drive? Is it supposed to look like that?
  23. I just ran a test with ONLY the 12-team version, no other editor files, and the history is showing fine: So I don't think it's anything in my files... I wonder if it's something to do with the starting the 23.2.2 version of the database or not. Let me know if anyone else is seeing this
