  1. Might affect whether players can just be ticked as available for reserves vs. formally loaned out? I think "players move freely" still contemplates that you have to send them down there via an (automatic) loan
  2. I have a CanChamp fix as well, feel free to link to the thread (default one is a mess). Works best as a separate continental file. If I can make one suggestion it's follow Saints' approach to TFC academy, it's kept compatibility with any US file (no MLS Next glitch like last year) and they now get to play in both structures
  3. Isn't there a way to load all fake players at game start?
  4. So no Bosman rule? Isn't there a way to turn that off somewhere? As for the other stuff, I'd take a look around "transfer rules" and "loan rules" under the nation in advanced rules, although some of the finer points like limiting it to 23 to 33-year-olds might be impossible. As for the the international transfers, there might be options in the transfer window for that if they're not already covered in transfer rules
  5. For seedings, you can make whichever teams are at the top your "teams" list for that stage get the bye (if you want to sort them by league stats, there are ways to do that too). Under stage/general make sure "reverse teams" is active and unchecked (same with "randomize teams"). Under "team list changes" further below, add an entry covering all the teams (so starting at 0 and ending at 8 if there are 9 teams) and make sure "reverse teams" is checked here
  6. Is there a way to affect the distance teams will travel for pre-season friendlies, or is this tied into a calculation of reputation, budget, nearby clubs, etc? It's cool that my Florida teams are playing preseason games in Quebec, lol, and that fourth-tier California teams are travelling up the coast to play pre-season games in Canada, but ultimately not realistic. I think you can turn off preseason friendlies completely somewhere? But I wouldn't mind keeping them, just that they should pick from the (loads of) local clubs who are available
  7. Not sure if this is the right place. But under "fixture rules", you can set "days to check for clashes" to be less than 3 (the apparent default). In previous versions, this worked and you could have temas playing 1 day after their previous game. This year, it seems like no matter what you set there, the game demands at least 3 days between cup games or it will reschedule, and at least 2 days between group games.
  8. The detail in the FM24 one is insane already tbf, they've got the new L1O Championship somehow accounted for in 2024. If we're talking 2025+ leagues and beyond they can always be added in a similar manner, but at the moment the lack of future leagues (with no detail) is not a knock on its quality at all. I think lots of players prefer a realistic 2023 over the modmaker making up future teams and formats based on their best guess anyway, but that's always fun too. Anyway, just trying to reduce some unnecessary duplication and get the best Canadian LLM experience possible but I definitely understand the lure of keeping everything in-house!
  9. I meant to say, if he took an earlier build of your db or ported over FM23 and just added a bunch of stuff, that would not be kosher. Mind you I just realized there haven't been any early versions
  10. Was just noting another cup that's played between lower league teams if you felt like creating it. But it's a bit niche and can be accomplished by scheduling a friendly (just no trophy that way)
  11. @SaintsCanada is doing great work in the FM24 thread if there's any desire to join forces. Which could allow @yellowsweatygorilla to skip the hard work getting competitions etc set up - including the insane L1O changes for 2024, which @magicmastermind124 helped, well, mastermind. YSG could go straight to his usual great work with player editing, special knowledge of rules, etc
  12. Not if you're building off his work. You'd have to build the database up yourself from scratch to share it. Believe he usually adds county cups though. On that note, FYI @lionel messi I can see Skipton Cup was played again this year. Sort of a community shield specifically for Guernsey FC and Isle of Man FC
  13. @oJMPx You building NCAA? Are you working off an existing file, or do you have any interest in collaborating with other editors on a wider project including the other US divisions? Also you won't need both squad selection deadline dates (get rid of those) and squad registration periods, I misspoke in my first post. Those will be redundant and may just confuse it @Bentfi
  14. You can enter text entries for the winners of a competition history??
  15. Also, currently in-game, inter-MX games in the knockouts are played at "home" i.e. in Mexico. This is incorrect, IRL it would be played in the US. I've achieved this by giving all the top division MX teams an "alternate stadium" in the Leagues Cup somewhere in the US, but this doesn't allow for variability and is a bit of a clunky workaround.
  16. Leagues Cup groups each have 2 MLS teams and 1 MX team. The inter-MLS game is correctly at the site of the higher seed. The two MLS vs. MX games should both be at the home of the MLS team - however, in-game they are both played at the home of the higher seed (so Vancouver vs. Chivas would be at Dallas if they were the other group member. This is incorrect, the game would be in Vancouver IRL) I think I tried to set this up with hidden stages in FM23 but couldn't get my head around it
  17. It is, BUT I like having the overall conference league table active during the season so it can produce, like, an all-conference team of the week. LOL, I know I'm just putting up barriers at this point. Either way I could do a new stage (hidden or otherwise) that just exists to collect teams at the end and hand out the remaining spots. What I want may not be possible with the current setup. I went back and found my old FM18 db in the trash folder of an old Mediafire account and it turns out I didn't have a sophisticated setup there either, just a clunky system where some teams would be told they were qualifying from the conference and then not make it. Considering dropping the child comps entirely and having them exist as groups in the parent comp now... that would allow "group settings" to settle everything. I just feel like a team should always be in the "division" that their "division" is set to, not entirely sure why (and for hard-coded US newgen reasons these teams have to have their "division" set to, say, "USL2 Northwest" and not "USL2" the parent comp)
  18. It really doesn't? Not in English at least. It contains the Spanish/Latin word "negro" meaning black. There's also a West African country "Niger" which is also not a slur
  19. Isn't the 32-team Club World Cup in there already? How's the O-League this year, are they still using that outdated two-legged format? I might just focus on North America tbh. Already expecting the patches will wreak havoc with the number of teams in the US and necessitate a complete re-do of league schedules each time
  20. Thought I was. Turned out I just forgot to remove the "teams" entry in the latter stage that was a backup for when qualifying the extra teams didn't work
  21. OK, I think I might have got it with the various machinations of the hidden stages... thank you for pointing out the expansive utility of the extra league fate places!! Previously I always gave the teams with "other" the new fate of "promoted" instead of "qualified or "top playoff" and it still works for best runners-up, but going with "top playoff" here just to be sure Actually hold that thought... still looking for a way to transfer that fate from the child comp to the parent comp
  22. I guess then the chairman/media would at least know you have a backup option to qualify, although they wouldn't know it from looking at your actual division rules (just the hidden stage in the parent comp), so maybe not... I'm sure there's a way to just transfer the league fate so that the "skip teams with fate already" actually works how it should, just can't think of how
  23. The groups are all discrete child divisions, and the wider table is a conference within a parent competition, so ideally the "rules" of the wider league table/conference would be the one saying something like "3 teams qualify (who have not already qualified elsewhere)". I thought of trying to utilize a "best runner-up" type strategy like you mention but couldn't think of how to structure it given that each "group" is a child division (and the wider table is just a substage in the parent comp that collects results from them). Thanks to you I'm realizing I can just set up a hidden group stage in the parent competition where each division is mirrored exactly in its own group and this is where qualifying occurs, with the group settings sending the next best teams, but this group stage would be hidden and ideally not sending any qualifying news at all (because that's taken care of in the visible child competition). To make things worse it's actually 2 (out of 4) conferences that have an uneven number of conferences and need the extra spots/qualifying rules
  24. Further, FC Tucson have kept a bunch of pro deals despite dropping down to USL2. I imagine those got ripped up
