Neo_Geo
Well that was short and swe.......who am I kidding, that has horrific! Went on a 16 game losing streak right in the middle of the season after starting not too badly in the FA Cup making it 4 rounds in (into the 2nd Qualifying Round) Squad wasn't strong enough and couldn't find a formation that got us goals. Might go back to Santa Venera Lightnings now until FM 23 comes out.

We're now the only Welsh team in the Welsh leagues that are fully professional (got to take a dig at TNS whenever possible! ) I've had FM fatigue, so have only played a couple of competitive games in the last few days. I have instead been sort of wasting my time playing in my little spreadsheet and have made a pretty (and slightly useful) thingy instead of actually playing the game... Spoiler I dread to think how much time I would waste if I could do more than just push a few numbers around in a spreadsheet.

Neo_Geo
Santa Venera Lightnings FC Season 5 (2026/27) Going to keep these short and sweet as there isn't long left until FM23 Following the title winning season we entered the champions league at the First Qualifying round where we lost 3-0 on aggregate to Shamrock Rovers. Europa Conference League was next up with a tricky tie against Djurgardens IF......it was too tough and we were put out 5-1 on aggregate. So with Europe out of the way it was all about trying to get the board to spend some of that cash and I've managed to get the Junior Coaching budget increased, Youth Facilities upgraded and Youth Recruitment upgraded twice! In the league we only dropped 8 points all season but 6 of those were lost against Hibernians FC who pipped us to the title by ONE POINT So no Champions League money next season (not like we were getting anywhere near the group stages anyway!) In the FA Trophy we lost 1-0 in the Semi Finals to.....you guessed it Hibernians FC. However, we did win our first Super Cup beating Hibernians 7-6 on penalties with our keeper scoring the winning penalty Here's how the trophy haul is looking now In terms of players being sold (or rather poached as we are still semi-pro) there was no one of note that left. The youth intake wasn't the greatest but we have an inverted right wingback who will go into the first team so it might see a slight change to the tactics going forward All 16 intakes were from Malta so not really seeing a very good spread of nationalities! As for the average ratings it was our worst year for Current Ability and Potential, but the personalities weren't awful for the 3 best players to come through. Season 6 will be all about trying to maintain our good form against the majority of the teams in the league and look to find a way to beat Hibernians (at least one of the two games as they did slip up, seems Floriana are their bogey team - we had a W1 D1 record against them this season). In addition I'd like to make a little progress in Europe though it's not likely as the squad still doesn't really seem strong enough at that level (depends on the luck of the draw). Popular Post thomas_e
VV Katwijk Season Summary 2035 - 2036 A third consecutive Eredivisie title, a striker with 36 goals in 26 league games and a penalty shoot out win in the CL Final!! CHALLENGE COMPLETE! After last season we lost Willem Dekker, one of the best players in the world, if not the best player. I suspected that we were several years away from competing in the Champions League with the absence of Dekker, but we pulled off a miracle! A combination of fantastic individual performances and a tactic that really suited the players led to a season far beyond my expectations. Having a striker like Martijn Klooster of course helped. 36 goals in 26 league games and 15 goals in 12 games in the Champions League.... wow! We started pretty slow and with two losses in the first four league games I was a little bit worried. We picked up speed however and together with Ajax we soon pulled away from the rest. I really enjoy playing in Holland, but the overall quality of the competition is pretty low to be fair! When you have world class players like Martijn Klooster it is easy to simply run over the competition. Klooster is really fast and with a direct counter attacking style we dominated game after game. We won the league with 7 points, but we rotated quite heavily at the end of the season, trying to save our key players for the CL knockout games, as well as minor injuries, and we suffered some losses because of that. Overall I would say we controlled the scenario and I was always confident I would secure the title. In the Champions League we had a really good draw, facing Lyon, Benfica and Stuttgart. We won the group with 5 wins and 1 draw. In the first knockout stage we faced Atletico Madrid. The first game finished 2-2 in Madrid, and we got some help when Atletico got a man sent off after 61 minutes (they were 2-0 up at that point). We easily beat them 3-0 at home in the return leg. In the quarter finals we faced Chelsea and we progressed to the semi finals after two even games. 1-1 at Stamford Bridge and a narrow 1-0 win at home secured the win. In the semi finals we were up against Liverpool and in the first leg we pulled off our best game ever. We beat Liverpool 4-1 at Anfield. The last three goals came in the 74th, 82nd and 85th minute! We went through after a return leg that ended 2-2, 6-3 on aggregate! We met Manchester United in the final, a fantastic team with some crazy talented players. We actually didn't play a very defensive game as I feared a cautious approach would mean that the entire game would be played in our penalty box. We started really well and our 18 year old defender Varney Roberts gave us the lead with a great header in the 24th minute. Man Utd equalised in the 49th minute and the rest of the game, including extra time, didn't really contain very much action. We made quite a few defensive substitutions at the end of the game, but with a really quick offense we were always a threat on the counter. We won the penalty shootout 5-4, our right back Jawad Raki scoring the winner! I honestly didn't see this coming. I had a hope I could complete the challenge within 4-5 seasons, as we have some talented players coming through, but completing this season was never in my mind. Really, really happy with this one and I can recommend Holland as a nation to play the challenge in! @darren1983 - challenge complete Season Summary Key Players Tactics used Edited September 25, 2022 by thomas_e

FM23 is only a months away now and I always start the Youth Academy Challenge on release day so now I dont really know what to do. Not enough time for a new Youth Academy save unfortunately and I always leave the save once I have completed the challenge. I actually started a save with Norway now, I always enjoy trying to take them to the World Cup or Euros. Libertine13
Season 3 (2024/25) It was a difficult season, our squad clearly isn't good enough to compete at this level just yet. Losing our top goalscorer, Stoltenberg, at the end of last season wasn't an ideal start for this campaign. We were desperately short of goals. We also lost our best midfielder, Hans Bjerring (23A), on a free transfer despite him signing a part time contract for 2 seasons, which really confused me and left us woefully short in midfield. The only positive from this season was going semi pro and offering deals to our more important players, all of which I managed to get optional contract extensions on. The youth intake wasn't bad at all, again we were blessed with many 4/5 star potential players and a few of these players will make plenty of first team appearances next season. The biggest surprise in the intake was Kyle Russell (25C), who just happens to be my son! Whilst not the best prospect, he does have a decent chance of making it as a regular starter! In all my many years of playing FM (and CM back in the day) I've never had a son promoted through the youth system. I just wish that his brother wasn't a 57 year old bloke I have no affiliation to! The only other notable youth product this season; Andreas Frederiksen (25A) We also had our first player poached this season, unfortunately for us we only get a 5% sell on fee. Considering money seems to be extremely hard to come by in these divisions, that's a big blow.
JAwtunes
@Libertine13 Frank Dauwen is glitched in the db. I had him appear as a technical director (while also being manager of a team in Belgium) when I was testing the Andorran db i used a while back. I couldn't remove him from the job so ended up deleting him from the db before starting the save.

@darren1983 - challenge complete Season Summary Key Players Tactics used Congratulations @thomas_e!!

SkiIIs
Season 2036/37 - Panionios We had our best season yet and with Greece being given an third Champions League place, 3rd gets us into the qualifiers. But yet again for another season in a row Paok finished on top of us by H&A record to go straight into the Group stage of the Champions League. We also did well in the Conference league reaching the semi finals before being beaten by Valencia both home and away in close games. They're becoming my European nemesis after beating us in the final only three seasons ago. Part of the reason for the success was being able to keep the band together and even managed to convince Pipinis to resign his contract for less 15k a week when he was already on 19k a week. Drawback is i had to include a 10m release clause and a 50% sell on fee as well but it was better than losing him for a free at the end of this season. Didnt have luck with Stavrou tho who is leaving on a free... Youth intake was one of the worst in a while, i cant really see any of these players knocking on the door to the senior team which is the first time i can say that. Personalities are really poor as well. Other things to note is that for the first time i won the manager of the year award, Pipinis won the talent of the year award with Kiourkos coming runners up. They were also placed 1 and 2 for the Greek player of the year award as well. And we had a new entrant to the NxGen wonderkids in Tzaferakos (50th) who replaced Kiourkos in the middle of the defence towards the end of the season. Roukounakis finished top spot again. We also updated our training facilities to great. Our youth facilities are stuck at Great because of the bug, im hoping that if we qualify for Champions League propoer it might fix itself but who knows.... Edit: Greece has ended up losing the third champions league spot so luckily i took advantage of it when we did Edited September 26, 2022 by SkiIIs

I dont know if anybody told you, but i´ts a bug. There is a fix from the danish researcher https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2784788350 If the challenge creator can accept the use of it, then I will properly rejoin the challenge with a danish team (my childhood team B1908 if possible)
glennuk
Worthing FC - Season 29 - English Premier League - Youth Intake Another intake and another one that isn't thrilling me. Perhaps it is the fact that our team is now a very good (consistently top 7 team) in the EPL and therefore getting many 4* or 5* PA players means they would be world beaters? Or maybe no matter how good Carlos Marchena is, he just isn't the guy for us. There is a decent mix of nationalities in here which I always like to see and the good news is both Keaton Robinson & Jack Shaw were upgraded to Elite Talents once the scholars list was announced. Great that both of them have very good personalities too. Top 3 - Youth Intake 29 Aminou Manga (YP29A) - He is one of those players who in hindsight I may not have chosen as my A player. But as he was the only elite talent at the time I felt compelled to. He would probably be better in a team that plays with an AMC, but I don't. I am already retraining him to play MC (Advanced Playmaker on Attack). He definitely has quite a decent set of attributes and hopefully changing his personality and retraining him will be successful. Keaton Robinson (YP29B) - For some reason I really like the look of this player. I am not quite sure I can exactly put my finger on it. Maybe it is the personality. I know he has bad tackling so retraining him in CM or DM is the likely next steps. I know his mentals are also pretty poor, but the teamwork and work rate make him the kind of player that could do something. Jack Shaw (YP29C) - At only 15 Jack is a very promising youth player. A CM who has a LOT of room to grow. His starting attributes are nothing too special, but that high determination, perfectionist personality and high teamwork makes him a player who can definitely get into the first team by the time he is in his late teens. Yes it will take a lot of improvement, but I need CMs so will hopefully micromanage him enough to see success. Other News I used to be able to choose my own affiliate club, but for some reason my board does no longer let me choose my own. The good news however is we have a youth affiliate in Colombia now

Thanks for the heads up! I'll continue the save as best I can (I am a few more seasons ahead of my last update and haven't lost anyone on a free with them having a contract since).

I was the one who reported the bug in the first place since it happened to me a while back. I'd love to have a go at this challenge in Denmark, and I will most likely do so in FM23 at some point. So sorry, no, unless @darren1983has any arguments, we don't accept the use of fixes for this, just as we don't for the youth facilities bug or any other types of errors. @Libertine13- you might recognize the team badge in that bug report!

Popular Post Winski
I just made a quick overview of countries that are completed in this challenge. One for Europe, and one for the whole world. It's just a quick version, but it's a nice overview to check which countries are completed.
Neo_Geo
@Winski Cracking idea, perhaps with FM 23 we can plan to fill in more of the countries not already done. Wales and Northern Ireland (and Ireland as well) would be nice to complete western europe
