Mahzun_Savas
Look, you guys in the old country are not allowed to become a republic until we down under become a republic, because if you do then she will have to come live with us and we do not tend to have any spare castles or palaces for her to live in. UK removing her as head of state wouldn't change anything in other countries where she is head of state. Funnily enough the UK doesn't have the power to change other countries head of states. I just automatically thought that if we removed the Monarchy as the Head of State it would also be automatically removed as the Head of State in the rest of the Commonwealth. G-Man11
I suspect it'd follow quickly. But it wouldn't be automatic. Though it'd be funny if Australia did retain her.

Australia as a country only exists within the confines of the English law that permitted the constitution be created. Commonwealth of Australia Constitution Act 1900 (UK) lays out the laws that states and the commonwealth are allowed to have jurisdiction on. Theoretically speaking the UK could veto any element of our constitution through an amendment to that law.

There comes a point where with the greatest respect, you want someone to go in relative comfort and at peace while they have their faculties etc. I don't think that's the same as wishing someone dead, but hoping for recovery when someone is on EOL gets a bit delusional. People in that position can be hanging on just existing, not living. And that's not especially pleasant.
