There was a practically identical bug last year in Scotland; all year, and it was never fixed.

It wasn't quite as bad. You couldn't move players to your U21 squad, or hire any new U21 staff etc. I still had an U18 squad that you could move players to / from.

But it's basically the same problem by the sound of it, and they've had over a year to do something about it.

They just told me in the bug tracker that this bug is under review (but it was also under review at FM21 and FM22)

League Two

2027/28 (season 5)

Season Summary

I have never before in this challenge achieved back-to-back promotions. But this season it happened. South Shields are back-to-back champions. Another dream season.

I continued using my 4-3-3 with three strikers. And the team continued to play as last season.

The three strikers scored lots of goals and together win only 3 draws, it was enough to win the title.

My 3 young offensive stars Egan, Byran, and Walters, played very well.

Unfortunately, the board accepted a bid on Egan in the winter. But before he was sold, he did well with 8 goals and 4 assists in 21 games as my false 9.

Byran scored massively 52 goals in 48 games. While Walters had the highest average rating with 7.55. He scored 27 and assisted 16 times.

The rest of the team have developed very well this season and raised the level. N'Guessan and Douglas from the intake of last season will soon develop into new stars of the team.

He is the bid on Egan that the board accepted. He was sold to Brazil in January. But to my suprise, he was on the NXGN-list when it was later announced.  

The youth intake preview looked great. Lots of A's and 5 stars.


I was disappointed with the intake. No 5 stars players. However, Mäkinen can maybe develop into a rotational player in my defense next season.





As earlier mentioned, I sold Egan. The only significant transfer this season.
 

Finances and Upgrades
I had no upgrades this season. But I think my youth recruitment and academy coaching are maxed.
However, it has caused me some financial problems, as the expenditures for my youth set up have been above 2 mill. pounds this season.



Next season
Next season, I hope to keep developing my players. I am actually not afraid of relegation, as I think that both Walters and Byran have the quality to become top scorers also in League One. But we will see. I don't expect another promotion though.

Thing that annoys me most is that if this was happening in a top 5 league it would have been fixed within one update. It being an issue for a year is bad enough, fact it's been an issue for the previous 2 years and still isn't fixed is disgraceful tbh

Founded in the Žižkov district of Prague in 1903, Viktoria had its best time a century later, winning the national cup in 2001 and finishing third in two next league seasons, but after this immediately relegated from the top tier, came back several times whout any success and eventually appeared in regional leagues.

Quite decent for our current level.

Senior squad

Our top players are over 30, almost everyone had a contract expiring in a few days, and the most famous player here – a former FM wonderkid Vaclav Kadlec already agreed to leave the team. The first week could actually end this challenge but no one else was poached except a third choice striker. Milan Jirasek, who played for Inter youth teams long ago, will be our leader for now, hopefully he and other veterans won’t decline too fast.

While searching for backroom replacements I found a Brazilian coach Lemos Filho who could have become a perfect assistant manager or HOYD, but he only wants to be a fitness coach, what a waste of talent  

Youth intake 2023

We already got the first intake, three players have some potential but they all have to improve physically. Though defenders may have a chance to play in the first team already due to lack of depth on their positions.

Judging from the odds, we are the promotion contenders (champions are promoted directly, 2nd and 3rd teams qualify for playoffs).

 

@darren1983 for the opening post - reset date for Czech Republic is June 30, the last fixtures are played on May 28.

Dorchester Town FC   -   Season 4 (2025 / 2026) Review   -   Vanarama National South

 

League Performance

Not disastrous in the end, but not especially encouraging. Crucially though we survived a relegation threat in 18th place after being in or around the drop zone all season long, struggling to find any sort of form. Had we gone down, it would have been back-to-back relegations and game over for the save!

We still lacked quality in many areas of the pitch, particularly out wide (with Myrie-Williams still not properly replaced by anybody in the intakes) and in defence. The 4 players that announced that they wanted to leave caused havoc with the morale as they are all senior players. Fortunately Harvey Bertrand and Tom Purrington have now changed their minds on leaving after securing league survival and have penned new deals. Alfie Stanley still has 3 more years to go on his and whilst he hasn't played well for the 2nd season running, he was still our top scorer and will almost certainly see out his contract even if he won't renew. The only one to leave in this summer will be winger MJ Kedman after running out his deal, and to be honest he isn't very good anymore and I think he'll struggle to get a new club. Miquell Hunte (Y3) has been a revelation and without him we probably would have gone down. With Aaron Dorrington (Y4) coming through also in midfield now, I think we will be more able to control possession next season, which we haven't been able to do since Myrie-Williams and Soares retired.

Next season has to be an improvement after 2 seasons in decline but I'm hopeful we can finish mid-table or better. I was also shocked that Newport County (who had dropped 2 divisions) didn't manage to go back up on the first time of asking! With them, Torquay, Bromley and Dover all in the division they will be a number of heavy hitters in this league even with Barnet and Eastleigh up. I'm still not really sure how we fluked winning the league a couple of seasons ago!

Some good news too as we got our youth recruitment and junior coaching both up to excellent rating! Whilst this costs a lot we should hopefully recoup the losses with player sales before long. The downside was the average attendance dropping by over 200 people a game since dropping a level (666 to 435) - flipping fairweather fans! 

 

FA Cup - A decent run for a change! We made the 1st round by beating Wimborne, Whitehawk and Braintree before losing to League One's Doncaster Rovers away from home 3-0.

FA Trophy - Exited in the first game we played (2nd round) losing 3-1 at home to Wealdstone.

 

Squad - It was nice to be able to rely on the goalscoring abilities of a player other than Stanley! Miquel Hunte (Y3) was brilliant in his debut midfield, and I'm not sure how long we can hold on two him, but he is now contracted on a 3 year + 3 year option deal so he won't leave on the cheap! Micallef (Y2), Ford (Y2), Gilmore (Y2) and Lambert (Y3) all made nice progress throughout the season.

 

Players of the Season

1. Miquel Hunte - 18 goal contributions (13G, 5A) in the league. Such a technical player in this division and I could see him being good even for League One or maybe higher one day.

2. Scott Ford - Finishing 2nd place for POTS again as his performances were really consistent in defence and scored a couple of free kicks.

3. Jesmond Micallef - His output isn't that impressive yet, but he never goes missing in games (unlike Stanley!). Not that quick but good technical and clever, kind of reminds me of Harry Kane (if Kane played at Dorchester's level )

    

    

Rookie of the Season (1st full season)

Kieron Lambert - As Hunte was the POTS, I'll give it to Lambert who has played solidly at left back when called upon. He has a fairly professional personality and is good in the tackle with a great engine, so I think he could be a starter in a year or two.

 

Youth Intake - The personalities weren't great across the board but there are plenty of 5 star potentials there and a few that look like they could make it. Clearly the star is Aaron Dorrington who could well be as good as Miquel Hunte and I'm excited to play both next season in midfield. Toby Miller has a resolute personality and could turn out well. Brett Puddy should get gametime next year and could make a nice combative midfielder to challenge Shayne Haines (Y0).

  

  

 

Transfers - Nothing to update on.

 

Finances - We recovered and stabilised after the youth training facilities upgrade and now have a little buffer again, but this will be tested a lot with the youth setup costs.

 

Other Updates - I now have my continental B licence! There have also been rumours that a fan group will look to take over the club soon - even though I'm pretty sure Dorchester is already fan owned in real life...

I think one of the primary reasons for the success of the tactic is the fact that my strikers have been at a high level compared to the league.

Cups

Well, no return to Wembley for us to retain our title as we fell out of both cups in the same week. First, we lost the Away replay against League 2 Carlisle 0-1 and then 3 days later went to VNL:North Tamworth and lost 1-2. Very disappointing performance, but it did reduce our regular season minutes down to 4590 instead of last year's stupid 5520. 

League

We had some weird morale issues at the start of the season, which led to a mediocre Fall that saw us end up mid-table and out of both cups in December. We turned it around in the new year and went on an amazing run all the way up to 2nd place on match day 43 within striking distance of South Shields and the title. We had matches against title-hunt Oldham & Playoff hopeful Bristol Rovers next followed by mid-table (and FA Trophy finalist St Albans). How did it go? In typical FM fashion I ended a 10-3-0 run just getting absolutely stuffed right at the finish line.

However, all was not lost as we still qualified for playoffs, but sadly down in 4th so we have more matches and no break. 

1st Playoff: Home Vs Sutton

1st half was pretty quiet with hardly anything worth noting. We go to the break and a stern team-talk fires up the players. We come out firing and in the 47’ a cross by Luke Farrell 01g finds our Polish big man Golebiowski 01f at the near post who taps it directly in. Things then get worse for Stuton as one of their FBs tackles down my RM Cicek in the box giving Vaughan 01c a PK which he places in the corner to give us a 2-0 lead in the 62’. 69’ finds Davies 04i on a break from Golebowski and he makes it 3! We give one back in the 73, and almost a 2nd in the 93’ but we clear it and the game ends a 3-1 victory.

Playoff Semi-Final: Barnet Away

We beat them 1-0 relatively recently, so can we repeat our success away at their packed ground?

It’s a tight first half with very few highlights until the 44’ when a cross by Cicek 02h finds yet again our big Polish Golebiowski 01f who uses his 1 headed to put it in the net to put us up just before halftime. I tell them no complacency and motivate our defense which seems to do the trick to get everybody ready for the next half.

Yet another slow highlights half with only 1 before 60 min changes. They make 2 and I change a midfielder but we are holding them well. I then change my other striker who hasn’t done anything today. I keep dropping more defensive with my wingers and midfielders and literally no highlights till the 82; and im playing on extended. And then, 90+2’ they find an equalizer… gah.

We are off to ET. I swap out a CB on a yellow and dead tired. Worried about our fitness going to 120. We have an awful start with a ball over the top finding their player and he scores in the 93’ and we really can’t make any headway against them. All of my subs, while fresh did not play well when they came on. Shows the just drop off in quality I have with my subs. Basically, you can see they just crushed us in ET after we did so well during the match.

We have gotten a lot of Fickle players this save with a 3rd this intake that’s a RB/RM bringing us up to 9 in 8 years which is 5th highest personality after Balanced, Unambitious, Fairly Professional & Light-Hearted. Here are our staffs, must be a lot of hidden ambition in them as I’ve hired mostly professional coaches. Here are all my staff and refresher of what my HOYD is like. For his skills I am very happy with his performance.

First Team

I'm rocking the exact same Starting XI for 4 years now. Player Screenshots for those interested in seeing how they've developed. I've ordered them in decending skill order.

My GK is our first English youth international as he's getting called up to the U21 Euros!

Second String

The whole first crew plays as a unit together and when they are fit no one in the National League (and very few League 2 opponents) have seen the better of us. Issue is they can't play all the matches, and the talent gap between them and our second team is still pretty large. While a few have developed well, the vast majority are 17-19 and still haven't fully matured into players with sporadic gametime. 

What has been good though is the club is finally mature enough that I can start doing normal pipeline development in the U18's and then out on loan to our new affiliate North Ferriby down in EL7. What is exciting about them is they have Below Average facilities, while being in a low league so when we send players down there, they get good match ratings and have decent facilities to see actual development! Much better than bad teams in Van North/South.

Club Ownership

Our club is technically Fan-Owned, but there is an individual who is a majority shareholder. It really has meant a nothing ownership. Very little demands of me (always just avoid relegation), but no money invested. This year the majority owner sold out his shares to another English owner.

Reputation

With last years FA Trophy we were just shy of 1.5* Reputation, and with our Playoff appearance this season we did enough to get the bump up! We are still Part-Time and will have to stay that way till League 2 money comes in, but this has already helped us with contract negotiations.

Coaching Badges

I've been slowly adding badges not feeling a need to rush it, so I got my Continental A this year and will plan on doing the final Pro license next year sometime.

Contracts & Finances

In early January, my Polish striker finally came back to the table to negotiate a new contract. He and the rest of my Starting XI were all on 3 year contracts, so safe from poaching but not on long term deals with them all 20-22. I took the financial risk of signing all of my starters onto 3 Year + 3 contracts that will increase my wage bill probably 20%, but locks them all in for the promotion hunt. 

Because of our dropping out of the cups early we lost 219k this year and sit at a 207k balance. The good news is we are getting more money out of the games we have with the minimal drop in the Tickets & matchday income even though we played 6 fewer cup games. (I forgot to do finances for season 5)

Thoughts

I really want to get the FA Trophy again rather than the league title as more years developing in Vanarama National will be better long term for the players than a push for promotion into a league where I anticipate us to struggle. When our B Squad is averaging age of 20 it should be solid enough to focus on the title. To this end I'll be looking to be more aggressive in loans this summer to try and get my B players a full season of gametime rather than sporadic matches for us.

Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League and Leagues Cup

We got knocked out of the Leagues Cup by the Chicago Fire FC in the Quarter Finals. It was a close affair, to be honest. But my team just couldn't hang on this two games per week schedule. NEED MORE REGENS TO FIX THIS!

Well, I've only played one game of the Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League. I beat what I envisioned as my toughest opponent which is Club de Fútbol América. It is possible that I can make it out of this group onto the second round.

Miscellaneous

Vultures, I mean other Liga BBVA MX clubs, are trying to get him. I have an automatic reject all transfers for Armando Cordero 23B.

Jordi Rocha 23C is now a FIFA U20 World Cup Winner with Mexico. I'm in awe of his development. I think it all comes down to his personality.

Theorycrafting

I think playing your youngsters are having a bigger effect on their development than training this season. I regularly praise and criticize my youngsters for their training. I have yet to praise or criticize my U18s who are in my first team. The ones that have gained a lot of attribute points are the ones that I'm playing regularly.

It is possible that you start with a team with a very small squad , most of the teams in certain nations don't have many U19's, sometimes a few newgens from the intake during holiday season.

Notes

Absolute torture.  Season 06 was a massive letdown for all concerned.  We started off with a loss and a draw and sat bottom.  We then won our next 4 games to go top! (Including a 7-0 away win!).  Then I genuinely cannot put my finger on any one thing (although I did update from beta to release around the time brown stuff started hitting the rotating device.....)

Anyway, we got dumped out of the cup at the first stage and then fell apart in the league, including losing our last 7 games and 9 of our last 11.  This meant we fell into the relegation playoff spot on the final day of the season.  A two legged affair with a high flying IFK Berga from the division below.  Home in the first leg and we grab an undeserved lead, but their dominance wore us down and we did well to keep it to a 2-1 loss.  Second leg at their place 4 days later and it should be a formality, right?  Well, we score two quick fire goals just before half time and we actually had survival on the cards again!  Second half they finally woke up and tore at us.  Equalizing in the 63rd minute and going for the jugular. We hit them on the break in the 77th and take a 3-1 lead on the night, 4-3 lead on aggregate.  The next 15 minutes were the most defensive and time wasting you could imagine and despite a couple of scares we did it!

This close season will see some wholesale changes.  Not 100% what they are, but things need to change.  Staying as-is will just mean more of the same and a definite end of this adventure.  Might as well go down swinging, and that usually means one thing for me and saves like this.....

How would the US be playable? There is no pro/rel to MLS.

EDIT: Only one viable in North America is Mexico.

Brønshøj BK - Review Season 2

A solid improvement on year one, but I'm sensing a high degree of parity in this league. Since all the sides are amateur, it's rare for one team to have significantly better players than another. If any team has a good player, semi-pro sides in the divisions above will snap them up quick. The entire promotion stage teams were separated by 5 points at the split and all but the bottom two were within 11 points of each other after 22 matches. This year, We had a chance to win promotion on the final match day, but we weren't able to beat Ringkøbing and finished two points outside the promotion places.

Regardless of final finish, I was able to integrate the youth to a point at which 7/11 starters were U18 and produced by the club. They started to improve in attributes and results, as we went 11 matches unbeaten with the first 8 coming before the mid-season break.

In this next section I'll highlight a few of the youth from the last couple years that have broken into the first team.

Starting with the gem from last year's intake, Ali Arslan 01a has started to improve in the past couple months after not really getting better at the start of the year. He looks very well-rounded now, imagine how good he'd look if all those 8s and 9s in his mentals and physicals were 10s. He's gotten caps for Turkey's U19 side and callups to the U21 side and he started most of the year with a 7.02 average rating as a CM(A).

Nicolai Hougaard 00a came through the intake during the holiday season and has started to get more minutes this year after few in his first season. He's improved a bit in spite of his personality. The mentals are strong for this level, but they're mostly unchanged. He started as a CM(A) alongside Arslan and performed a bit worse, but was more of a threat going forward with higher XA and XG stats.

Not sure why my ass man doesn't rate Martin Tønsberg Maxsø 01d (giving him 2.5 grey stars) since I think he fits the IW(S) role perfectly. His stats have not been wowing, but I'd rather give the minutes to a youngster who can improve, and he's mostly passed the eye test in matches, looking dangerous in some games, but incosistent in others. (Almost like the ass man does know how to rate some things)

Martin Kofoed 01f is another that my ass man didn't rate, but has decided he's not that bad and upgraded his grey stars eventually. (Clearly I didn't rate him in the intake either if he's got the 01f tag) He was not one I had envisioned getting playing time, but I gave him a shot as an IW(S) due to the Fairly Professional personality and the solid physicals and he took it and did not let go. Doesn't look the most impressive out of all our youths, but hard to argue with the 7.00 rating and 5 goals, 4 assists in 20 starts.

Finances are continuing to be stable. Our expenditure as an amateur side is not very high and I recently discovered that we have the highest average attendance in the division, which surprised me a bit since the club wouldn't be considered a typical "fallen giant" with good facilities and a rich history. I guess I'd want promotion next year and then turning semi-pro as a result. Although I certainly wouldn't mind having more time to integrate the youth into the first team while comfortably avoiding relegation. As always, no transfers, although I'm up to having a Continental C License since the board keep accepting upgrades everytime I finish my previous ones.

Season Summary

The aim of this season was to maintain our league position and hopefully have a good FA Cup run. We achieved the first target but failed with the second. We started the season well and probably should have picked up more points than we did. However, the rot then slowly started to set in and we maintained inconsistent form for the rest of the season. We were never really in doubt of being dragged into the relegation battle but it's something we're going to have to work on for next season.

In the FA Cup we only managed to reach the first round whilst we lost in the FA Trophy third round.

Youth Intake

This is the best intake I've had on any youth attempt challenge. All A's resulted in twelve elite prospects and one superstar.

Other Bits

We rejected a bid from Middlesbrough for Ryu Tullin. He's coming on leaps and bounds as I decided to freeze MacKenzie Heaney & Dylan Mottley-Henry out of the first team squad fairly early on. Another improvement although the finances are still shot as we're just short of £400k in the red. Released a few legacy players and youth players not progressing once safety was confirmed.

Here's the juicy stuff. Who has the balls to fire up a Singapore save?!

Also, fair play to SpS_Zen who holds the record for the lowest nation rating challenge completion (according to FM23 youth ratings at least!)

Sadly Im afraid is Singapore also not available for the challange as tehy do not have promotion/ralagation

Thanks for the feedback guys, I definitely should have flagged the countries that are eligible for the challenge rather than just going through all playable nations when you fire up a new game! One for me to correct later

Found out that my Indonesia save is probably done before it is much begun (I have done one season but haven't posted here yet, waiting to see how game breaking the bug is). So I am at the moment looking for my second save.

Wasn't really feeling Romania, a little bit too tedious for my liking, so I'm off somewhere else, like Denmark.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

An amateur club, but hopefully not for long. The club has some top tier history, but hasn't been there in about 50 years. The youth development philosophy is encouraging too!

I spent all of yesterday evening loading and holidaying new saves and just couldn't find what I wanted. Then, inspiration hit me. As soon as I started reading about the club I was 100% all in.

 

"SV Austria Salzburg is an Austrian professional football club, based in the city of Salzburg. The club was formed in 2005 by some supporters of the original SV (Austria) Salzburg after it was renamed FC Red Bull Salzburg by its new owners, who also changed the club's colours from its traditional violet and white to red and white.

The original club was formed in 1933. It was subject to a takeover by the Red Bull company in 2005. They renamed the club FC Red Bull Salzburg, changed the team colours and claimed that it was a new team. As a concession to pleas to keep the old colours, Red Bull offered to allow the goalkeeper's socks to be purple for away matches. This was viewed as an insult by fans caused a group of supporters, known as the "Violet-Whites", to want to preserve the 72-year-old traditions of their club which they felt had been ignored by Red Bull."

 

Overthrowing Red Bull is going to be incredibly sweet.

I've also never managed a purple team before, which is awesome.

Damn this is a struggle, at FC United

Came 12th First season but that wasn't so bad due to having some real players, second season i survived on the last day and came 20th, by 1 point. Third season i am sitting below mid table - not sure how i am ever going to get out of this league haha!

Youth intakes are okay, i have a few okay players doing well - however my concern is we are still part time and any half decent player is going to leave for nothing at any moment.

My main concern is moving up the leagues and expectation levels? the board rejected one of my requests for youth improvements because they didn't want to rely on youths and wanted to use the transfer market - obviously this is going to become an issue if they keep wanting this type of method. I worry that without quick success over the seasons it will become increasingly difficult not to get sacked. 

However, i am really enjoying this type of challenge havent done this before with youth only.

Long term goal, stadium after myself for the first time on the game.
